luvsdogs
Thanks kallistar. We had lots of fun. There is video, I think, but not mine, so don't have access right now. Maybe later ..... :D Go on ness - give the old lady a run. It'll keep you off the streets if nothing else  Yeh, give Ness another go. She's sure to qually. Well done Tassie on all your passes. It sure beats mine & Tilba's terrible effort.
BC4ME
Lovely music and routine, BC4Me. But what was on your pants leg that he kept getting distracted by? :D That was alovely use of a simple prop too. Congrats to Tassie and her guys - that's a pretty impressive way to start off titles! We had our workshop with the lovely Kamal Fernandez on the weekend. He is just amazing, what he can achieve with a dog. I cam away with my head buzzing with ideas for Obedience, Rally and DWD! The music is the theme title from the series The Game Of Thrones. I love this piece of music. As for my pants ... No idea but when he spun a little earlier a heap of spit came out of his mouth which was what he tried to smell on the ground maybe some landed on my leg, there was nothing on my leg when I left the ring though LOL I got away using the box as a prop because of the title of the song and the way the box was used. We have Kamal up here this week-end I have a private lesson with him tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it although there is rain predicted which might put a bit of a dampened in things. I am camping in my new home made campervan which I have designed especially so I can go away with the dogs and be comfortable, safe, warm and hopefully dry. I still need an annexe on the side so will be using gazebos again this week-end.
luvsdogs
Posted this in the Spitz sub-thread on Monday: "Panda went to his 1st DWD workshop yesterday. I was really pleased with him, hardly any barking & he did some of the simpler exercises well, when I didn't really think he would. I was even told by the presenter that he was a smart little dog. :D " I was also asked if I had my music with me, saying no didn't bring Tilba's disk. She meant for Panda, so as it was his 1st workshop, I hadn't given it a thought until then. So I need some thoughts on music for K9 freestyle. Something simple & light I'm thinking. I don't think he's ready for HTM as I haven't taught him to heel, or even where heel is. ETA: Also, who here works with difficult breeds? I've said often when asked what it's like to train a Spitz, he's no Border Collie. Edited July 11, 2012 by luvsdogs

I would make the routine about 1 1/5 minutes max (usually 1 verse and 2 choruses) and just have fun. Dance of the Miriltons from the Nutcracker is good for this. She will get the "Awwwwww" factor from the audience when she walks into the ring just because she is little and like I said so goddam cute  As for training different breeds I believe once you know what turns them on (their prey/food item) then you can train them to do anything. luvsdogs
Thanks BC4ME, do you have a link so I can hear Dance of the Miriltons from the Nutcracker. I had a bit of a search but couldn't find it. Anyone else have any suggestions?

sheena
I'm just watching the Sandra Davis DVD's for the second time & all I can say is WOW....I think I will give up now, she makes it look so easy  Unfortunately I only have Disc 1 & 3, Getting Started & Getting Applause. I think she is an ex dance teacher, so I suppose that helps, but I think she is great. I started watching some Richard Curtis DVD's but found him a "bit hard to take" Not sure if I am real keen on the way he teaches his dogs heeling, with his hand in their collar like he does. Anyone else watched any Sandra Davis DVD's ?????
BC4ME
Here you go luvsdogs - Dance of the Mirlitons Thanks for posting that Sally. This is a slower version there are slightly faster versions out there and there is also a big band jazz version as well. If you have Itunes you will be able to search for it easy enough. MrsD
Well the Ekka is less than 3 weeks away & there is no way that my new routine (Advanced Freestyle) will be ready in time. I was going to just pull out but I am just thinking that I may do my Moulin Rouge routine instead, better than pulling out altogether. *fingers in ears* la la la la la LA LA LA LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Don't want to hear how great Kamal was cos I ended up not being able to go . On the other hand congrats to Tassie on her qualies & titles, same for BC4ME, wtg girls! Sheena, Richard is one of the best teachers & presenters I've ever had the pleasure of seeing, I've been to 2 of his seminars & they were absolutely brilliant. kallistar
Well Mrs D, you have now put an idea into my head and one thing that I said that I wouldn't do again, wearing a skirt cause I wore one for my Novice HTM. How bad would it be to do swap my novice HTM (you know the one Tassie) which is in the time frame of Intermediate for freestyle? Or repeat it as HTM? So stuck this time round as I really want to do A few of my fave things, (Glee TV show version of the Sound of Music) but I don't have any idea what to have as a costume.. Please has anyone got some ideas? The other song that I wanted to do is "Pavement Artist' but just falls short of the required time for intermediate I am also thinking about It's a jolly holiday (Mary Poppins) The other question is, would you use the same peice of music (same level) with another dog? Help is needed badly thanks
ness
 kallistar well I am soooo tempted to stick Ness in the next trial but I am hoping Kenz will be up to the challenge and I'd love to attempt Ness's freestyle routine with Kenz but for Novice. Tassie
@ MrsD .. I was really sorry not to have caught up with you. Thanks for the congrats..the kids topped off our trip last weekend with one Excellent Rally pass for Kirra, and 2 for Rory. Definitely don't pull out of the Ekka. @ Kallistar ...you know I loved that routine of yours...reckon you could do it again. Other than that..no help at all..so uncreative. :-)

Schatzi'sMum
So stuck this time round as I really want to do A few of my fave things, (Glee TV show version of the Sound of Music) but I don't have any idea what to have as a costume.. Please has anyone got some ideas? There's the line "girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes". It refers to dresses, but you don't need to wear a dress - what if you wore something like a white shirt with a blue satin sash? Then some tailored pants maybe also in a blue to match the sash? Just the first thing to come to mind clothing wise for that song... :)

xena98
was just watching better homes and gardens and they just had Dr Harry on talking about the dancing with dogs I think they were from Queensland pretty awesome so who are the tv stars
Tassie
It was a great segment, wasn't it. I loved that Dr Harry 'got' that it it's a fun training thing to do with your dog, and the relationship is key, and presented that aspect strongly. The troops briefed him well. :D
luvsdogs
Thanks ness & BC4ME, I do remember that music, just didn't know what it was called. We've been told in workshops that you need a faster piece of music for beginner dogs, it would suit me at that pace but Panda can be a little speed demon. It was a great segment, wasn't it. Some of the more traditional trialers at my obedience club think things like this are a waste of time & why would you do it. grrr
Tassie
Some of the more traditional trialers at my obedience club think things like this are a waste of time & why would you do it. grrr how disappointing is that. Oh well, their loss, I guess. Just a shame for the people that they affect, who miss out on doing fun stuff with their dogs.
