Cairns Dog Squad recently took to the skies in as part of their ongoing training.

The squad familiarised the dogs with the EMQ helicopter to get them used to the noise and downdraft of rotors. The team perform ongoing training exercises in and around the Cairns area with other police and emergency services personnel to ensure skills are at an optimum level.

Police Dogs Vader, Xander and Kasey and their handlers took to the new training like ducks to water and obviously enjoyed the new experience.

The dogs are regularly trained in searches and tracking work and even rappelled off the Barron River Bridge recently.
