She represent the dog and he was injected with a substance( cortisoid or antihistamine?)which saw the dog make good recovery. Her daughter was very upset about it and as her dog was due for its annual shot the following week was going to enquire with her vet (a different one to her mother dog usual vet)as to what happened. Trouble is her dog exhibited the same symptoms post vaccination and too had to be represented following collapsing and going "stiff" Has anyone heard of this before?? What are the chances of two dogs being sensitive? My friend asked me ...I have only seen it once in vet nursing...how common is this?? I said Id ask this to a wider panel of experience. In addition to Oakway's response, I'd be checking vaccine brands and batch numbers, in case there is a faulty batch of vaccine out there. But none-the-less, annual vaccinations aren't necessary, going by all the research and literature that is available. Even when a dog doesn't evidence a reaction, I believe we aren't helping their systems by perpetually vaccinating. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

My friend who asked me is an advocate for titre testing, but when this happened to her friends dog she was concerned that in both occasions the vets didnt seem to be overly concerned Nor did they explain the issues. My chosen vet if something like this occurred wouldnt get me to leave without an explanation! Actually my vet wouldnt have to be asked to as he would be offering one (which is why hes MY vet.)
