Erny
As per the title ..... I bought what was advertised as teeth scrapers - a 12 piece set. It arrived today but the pouch it comes in says it is a set of 12 wax carvers. Are these things one and the same or have I been duped?. I don't want to use anything other than good quality stuff and the right stuff on my dog's teeth. Edited May 17, 2012 by Erny

anniek
I would think that proper tooth scalers would be made out of surgical steel??? ets - not sure there is a difference though... :) Edited May 17, 2012 by anniek

LOL. I'm not sure I understand your "lol" Oakway. Sorry if I'm being a bit dull. Your link advertises wax carvers. The eBay vendor I bought from advertised teeth scalers but sent me wax carvers. . I'll contact the vendor and tell him or her "not acceptable" but want to first check that they aren't one nd same. The wax carvers don't seem to have the 'edge' on them thatvid expect for teeth scalers - they seem too rounded and too thick. But Im no expert nd haven't had them before. I was just laughing about them being wax carvers. Try this site I just googled teeth scalers. http://www.toothscaler.com/ and came up with this one. This is a great site for dog things including scalers although its in the states. http://www.toothscaler.com/ Edited May 17, 2012 by oakway
karly101
Dog scalers - http://www.im3vet.com/ Look quite different to the wax carvers - I would be concerned if wrong may damage the teeth? You want a good quality stainless steel too.
oakway
Anything that has a point on it will crack the plaque and dislodge it. For years I used a nail. An old metal nail file, the one with the curved end was great favourite of many dog people. Until I stated using the Proden PlaqueOff I used a pair of artery clamps to crack the tarter, took it off wonderfully. A pair of pointy nose pliers will do the same thing. :)
becks
if they are like oakways link, then i would be sending them back for a refund, they are nothing like dental scrapers - you can buy safety version now so you won't catch the gum

I emailed the Vendor and the Vendor responded with this answer : Wax Carver is just the brand or Manufacturer name...they make both types of picks. This is a dental pick set. What's the "safety version" Becks? Do you have a link?
