Winter Jammies

Do any DOLers happen to know if anyone who made dog jammies last year is making them again this year? I keep checking the marketplace but have not seen any yet. I would like to get some for Issy as her hips are bad and think she could do with the extra warmth. Failing that does anyone have any recommendations for shops in Brisbane or online suppliers? The only ones I can find are either like sacks or ridiculously expensive. Any suggestion welcome, I will get her a heatpad for if it gets very cold.

We got our winter jammies from Posh Pets at Marina Mirage (Gold Coast).

They are made out of polar fleece (I think) and there are no zips/velcro/buttons, you just pull them over the dog's head and put their two front legs through the holes. To take them off we just pull them over the dogs' head and they step out of the leg holes.

They weren't cheap at the time, but have lasted for eight years so far and still going strong. I just chuck them in the washing machine once a week. We have three new dogs this year (as well as the original four), so will be getting more of these, they have been great.

They now have an online store:

Thanks Tara and Ash but need ones with legs, they need to cover her lower hip area ,haunches and knees if possible - a couple of people were making them last year and I will ask Puppysniffer. In fact what she really needs is a doggy tracksuit bottom LOL. I'm yet to see one.

I have the pattern and Megs made my boy's for me, but she's not doing them with legs in anymore. I want some also for the summer - in cool sweat stuff that breaths, to protect my dog from mozzie bites which he tends to get when we visit my folks or go to other places outside of suburbia.

Ams I've given up waiting for measurements - I'm just going to do my own thing! Got the last trim I wanted for the collars so it's all systems sew now!

Coogie here is all the fleece fabric I have for coats so if there is anything you like you'd better say so quickly or it will be used for coats for Ams dogs (and some for BFR).

Also I'd need to know how many you want/need and will need to srto out some measurements, particularly for the legs as I can't remember if Issy has chubby hocks like Oscar! But we'll get to that.

I do have this pattern and will be using simpler variations on A and C for Ams and BFR (quick to sew and easy to get on and off) but I'm assuming you want one of the ones with back legs like this other one I have (hot pink one in post below)? I'd easily be able to make a pattern and enlarge it to suit Issy. The other thing I can suggest is that coats without legs that have longer backs and sides are also good for chilly dogs as when they lay down they kind of fan over them like a blanket without getting tangled when they try and stand again or move around. I bought the hot pink ones below for my old SBT and she hated me putting her back feet in them but loved the blanket kind of effect of a slightly larger coat.

Oooh Puppy Sniffer they look perfect! She doesn't mind having them on she is good with things like that. She has coats for when we are out late but they are not so snuggly and soft. If she could have the pink stripes it would be great, and maybe a blue elephant pair for Alfie? I don't know if he will wear them but she can use them as spare if not. She doesn't have chubby legs and her right one is still quite wasted :( (although improving steadily with the hydrotherapy) If you let me know what measurements you need I will get them done. Please would you PM me payment details as well? Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou!

Sorry Steve - not sure of her size, whenever I have bought anything like this before (coats)she has tried them on -and range from medium in one brand to XL in others. I will have to measure her once I know what PS needs.

Just a question re: dog coats. Do you ever worry that your guys get too hot in them?

I've tried what seems like thousands on Zeus but he continually eats the strap during the night and wiggles out of them. I'm wondering if he does this as he gets too hot wearing them and that's his only way of getting it off.

I've stopped buying him coats as he loves to snuggle into his fluffy blankets and he radiates warmth of a morning when I give him his breakfast.

They don't seem to make Issy too hot,RiverStar-Aura - but she really only wears them when it is pretty cold. We are renovating and sometimes don't have windows etc. The house has no heating just now so will be pretty chilly in winter. Alf our boy has much thicker fur and seems to not be as bothered. If they come into the bedroom to sleep they don't have anything other than a blanky. I wouldn't leave their coats on if I was not there as I would worry about them getting tangled. I am hoping Issy's hips will do better over winter if she is kept warm.
