Scoobs10
Hi All I have been involved in the show dog world now for a couple of years and was just wanting to gain some feedback on what are other peoples thoughts personal opinions, experiences, for's and against and then what is the correct ANKC or State FCI ruling for breed lectures? 1) Breed lecturing to Australian Aspiring Judges should it be given by a FCI qualified person? 2) Breed specialist from an FCI country (classed as a lecturer in their own club)? 3) Breed specialist from USA who follows USA Standards (classed as a lecturer in their own club)? 4) Breeder from FCI standards country? 5) Breeder from USA Standards country? Janba
Using a breed specialist from an FCI country or the USA would only work if there standard is the same as the Australian standard or they did the lecture to the Australian standard, in which case why not use an Australian breed specialist? One of my breeds - the border collie has a different standard to the FCI and USA standards and the dalmatian also has differences in the USA standard - they allow blue eyes for one thing. Keshwar
My question is why? I would rather Australian Judges are taught the Australian Standards and are competent in them rather than have the focus on FCI and/or USA standards. Unless of course you are aware of something that the rest of aren't. ;)
SparkyTansy
Lectures should be delivered to aspiring judges based on the current australian breed standard, from whichever country it follows.
SwaY
Would be silly to do so IMO, an example of why... Under FCI for Miniature Pinscher - Hackney is a fault - it's in the UK/AUST standard as a Characteristic. Characteristics: Precise hackney gait, fearless animation, complete self-possession and spirited presence.
SkySoaringMagpie
I'm not really sure what you are getting at? What concern do you have about the current system? It's not just up to the lecturers FWIW, the aspirants are also expected to do their own research.
