westiemum
Isn't it funny! We all seem to be under the illusion we are 'big dog' people or 'small dog' people ! Begiinning to think its all a myth and we're all just dog people! I feel in love with a big boofa of an Airedale a couple of weeks ago! Made my westies look like toy breeds! But gee he was gorgeous! indigirl
I agree. I have big dogs - bullmastiff x, boxer, and golden and I also show and breed iggies. The only issue is making sure that I have 2 seperate yards etc so the iggies dont get trampled. Plus I use toddler gates abd crates indoors to keep the iggies seperate. I feel I have the best of both worlds. I have dogs I can take out for an offlead run, and to obedience and so on. Plus I have my little lap Warner's. It's great, love it. Sayly
I love two completely different breeds, Aussie Shepherds are my heart breed but I grew up with and adore Irish Terriers. :) We show both breeds and we just had our first Irish Terrier litter. I plan on breeding Aussies eventually too. Love how different they are, but both breeds are awesome!

mita
After many years of rescuing beautiful greyhounds i recently rescued a chihuahua from Blacktown Pound. He was the most gorgeous boy and i loved having him around. And i would certainly rescue another one!!!! Our experience was the other way round. We had tibetan spaniels.... little slightly pug-faced creatures with lovely coats. Then our neighbour, who's in the greyhound racing world, told us he was going to have his greyhounds at home. After years of now having well-bred greyhounds living next door, I just love the breed. So do our tibbies and the tibbie next door. I wish you could've seen our little Annie waiting patiently at the back fence yesterday afternoon....a couple of greys get taken for a walk at that time. Her friend, Lily, the tiny tibbie next door was waiting with her. As usual, the greys' owners brought them over to meet the tibbie girls. I wish you could've seen a gorgeous big grey....who ran a record -breaking race last week....bend down & gently rub noses with little Lily thro' the fence. Lily's hardly the size of his head. Then the other big boy did the same. Aaaah! Beautifully bred, socialised & much loved greyhounds! :) A tibbie's best friend. :) :)

WeimMe
I have always had larger dogs - Weims and Doberman, but I would really like a cuddly little poodle. Don't know if it will ever happen though as I am very appreciative of the fact that having a larger dog can help deter burglars.
GeckoTree
Most the ones people love to bag out on forums it leads me to research and finding out the truth. Underdogs FTW. Be they big or small.
helen
Well I am a Brittany person, but Chazer adores little fluffy dogs, so it is tempting to get a small fluffy as well :) There are are few breeds I like, Havenese, PVGV, Lowchen. I love the look of Tibetan Terriers too and Chazer met one and hit it off straight away but apparently they are not normally a dog friendly breed so I struck them off my list. ETA he has an obsession with black and white Papillons, but they wouldn't be first on my list, Shih Tzus are cute too Edited May 8, 2012 by helen

Saffioraire
I don't particularly like small dogs. or grooming, or non-working breeds... BUT.... I really want a rough coated Griffon Bruxellois I'm much the same - so you could imagine the horror on my OH face when I came home from a show stating I AM getting a Rough Griff!!! The new pup met my 38kg male over the weekend, one lick and Yoda was soaking, but it was the sweetest interaction. FYI stripping is not hard, just time consuming - a great couch activity Hope you find your new friend in time Mant' - sounds like you need it. LizT
I love all dogs and am never surprised when a particular pesonality and I really BOND. However I love observing this phenonomen in "dyed in the wool breed lovers" who stumble across a breed they believed they would never be drawn to and have fallen in love. I witnessed this once in a house mate who absolutely HATED cats and shot ferals and would never own one but bonded and became great mates with my cat during the year we lived together. His girlfriend laughed whenever she saw him watching TV, there would be his Basenji, him and my cat on his lap!!!
