Just like secretkei said, I have my dream breed, in fact my dream dog, but she's also my nightmare!

Quinn my blue merle Aussie Shepherd girl is definitely my dream dog and whenever I look at her I'm struck by how stunning she is, but she's such a troublemaker and has managed to destroy half my house. still I wouldn't trade her for the world :)

English Setter. So beautiful!

Chihuahuas and greyhounds, of course. But one day I'd love to own an English Setter - maybe a retired show dog. Red Belton?I think they call them. Remember one in the area when I was a kid - Seamus. Brilliant kids dog.

Orange Belton or Blue Belton (or tricolour) Poppy's mum :)

nice choice of breed!

Love any stylish breed, that prances and dances, especially pointers, most fav the GWP, as they don't seem to be affected by tick paralysis. I will trip over littlies.

I sometimes wish that I lived in a great big house out in the country so that I could have four or five Weims - I just love them!

I'd also love a Great Dane, a Standard Poodle, an Afghan Hound and an Italian Greyhound.

Obviously these are all dream dogs - I can't imagine them all getting along nicely and safely together!

Living the dream here as well, I have four Salukis and am on acreage.

I think you do have to be a Saluki person to live with them happily, but if you admire them it's worth finding out if you are a Saluki person. Plenty of people assume it will be too hard.

I think it was Diva who mentioned a long time ago that while the negatives of sighthounds are well known (low biddability, fencing requirements, etc) the positives aren't as well known (usually pretty healthy, not always in your face, easy coat care apart from the Afghan which can be maintained clipped off anyway, etc).

I'm so pleased to see so many people mentioning greyhounds. That's another dream already true for me. We live next door to much loved racing (& ex-racing) greyhounds. They are perfect neighbours....so affectionate, gentle and cause not a scrap of trouble in the many years they've been there. My tibbies adore them.

I already own my dream breed, you can't get any better then Old Style GSD's

If i had more land and time permitted for excising them all i would love to own more of them, perhaps i would venture out to get a Working lines GSD and a Border Collie and working Kelpie also :)

Mita i love them and will have a couple of Greys one day :).

We're going O/T, Clover, but go the greys!

Our neighbour socialises his greyhound puppies with children & our tibbies. At 4-6 months of age, the greys go out (to people he approves of) to begin their racing career. The amazing thing is that when any of them come back after a few years.....they come racing to the fence, tails wagging, to rub noses with their little tibbie mates. They still remember them....& us, too.

Definitely another Dally.....but I think I could only cope with training/competing with one at a time for the moment

LOTS of working ESS. LOTS :D

A working Irish Setter

Possibly a working Golden Retriever if I found the right lines

I have always loved Bernese Mountain Dogs and Poodles of all size but they don't really suit my lifestyle at the moment - Bernese are a bit heavy for agility and the Poodle clipping would drive me crazy! I also have a soft spot for Tibetan Terriers, having trained a bit with one in agility years ago.

G'day Aussie dog lovers,

Well once i got hooked by the Gundog breeds for the ability, drive, companionship, intelligence, versatility & "soft mouth" traits of a retrieveing dog from the Hunt,Point & Retrieve catergory...

Both my partner and myself are avid hunters who truly value the relationship between a working/companion canine and it's master, not to mention the joy of hunting with your 4 legged friend.

Having first been exposed to Weimaraner then the German Shorthaired Pointer, i slowly developed a fascination, curiosity and passion for the "Pointer" which started the obsession.

8 months ago now which seems like just yesterday it was decided that we were to get a GSP as a gundog/companion for jen.

Looking back on it now i see it as maybe fate when discovering this breed as i now looking back on it with a long way to go, i could not have asked for a breed that turned out to be perfect for as a family pet, a hunting dog that can handle the heat in Australia and the variety of species that the dogs can Hunt,Point,Retrieve,Flush.

I responded to a add posted in the window of the newagency near my house advertising "Pointer Pups", the add had a photo of a huge pile of orange and white pointer looking pups and without a second thought we had arranged to come view the pups.

Never will i forget the feeling as my stomach dropped when the lovely lady who breeds the dogs in Australia with her husband answered the door opening the security gate giving me my first glance at what i was expecting to be beautiful looking GSP's instead i came across the "hunting dog of Malta" and since i did my research which took forever but thanks to help of some very dedicated and passionate people in Malta, i could finally join the dots.

The photo's: From left to right, first 2 photos are of the "Bracco Italiano" one of the supposed breeds which the Maltese Hunting dog originates from.....

and finally last but not least "Klieb Tal-Kacca ta Malta" my boy Hunter at 14 weeks of age
