redangel
My favorite monitor has died after years of good service. I currently have a basic tn screen awaiting the ips screen. Everything looks washed out..I do have a spyder, but how does one suggest I alter the settings for brightness? My color temp is currently 65K. I cant wait for my new screen.... kja
Some screens just can't be adjusted "properly" I have one ips and one non-ips screen and the difference is huge. I was going to buy another ips but can't really justify it since I do just fine with what I have now - i just don't use the non-ips screen for colour or exposure :)
Are You Serious Jo
Can anyone give me an idea of what to look for in a screen for photoshopping, I need a new screen and can't do much research as I only have my tablet.
kja
Dell 23 inch IPS FTW I just bought an Asus 23" IPS that is lovely, too (and was cheaper than the Dell by about $40 @ www.ple.com.au)
redangel
Thanks for the replies. Thanks KJA my son says I was being overly fussy, but after having a lovely monitor this tn screen is just not right in all regards. I feel vindicated! Im pleasd to hear what screen you have been using as the 23 Asus is the one I ordered as it seemed to be a reasonable price for my needs. There was a nice Samsung on offer, but a bit pricer. Cant wait to get a real screen, I have photos waiting!
redangel
My asus has finally arrived (so much for three days). KJA the settings on screen splendid, scenery, rgb...is there a preference here that you prefer? I currently have it on srgb...but im concerned because I output as a rule for printing on adobergb. Ideas here??
kja
What does your calibrating software say - that's what I use? I didn't mess with any settings when I plugged mine in - I just hooked up Spyder and followed the directions it gave me. I'm pretty sure I output as srgb for all my labs fwiw. Kirislin
How can I tell what kind of screen I have. Whats IPS?
kja
It will say IPS on it no doubt. It's meant to be better for photo viewing -> what is IPS
redangel
It looks very better to my eye on rgb setting...I have calibrated with my Spyder on that setting. I was just curious as to whether there might be a preferred setting. Thanks Kja for the input. Loving the new screen, not loving the backlog of editing I have due to the time delay in getting it . Are You Serious Jo
I went through a heap of screens at cash converters and none said on the back whether they were ips or tn, so you can't always tell. Probably best to google the model.
kja
FWIW I've never seen an IPS monitor that doesn't say it's IPS - if it doesn't say it, it's probably not one ;)
Are You Serious Jo
That's what I thought, if it didn't say it then it's not likely to be one. The sales guy didn't believe me so I googled to show him they are a thing, ahole thought I was mistaken or lying or something
