HazyWal
No - too many dogs in a small space! We are going to organize a Giant Paws Walk in the next couple of months instead - social outing to raise money for Dane rescue. I would love to go to that :) Will you be posting info about it here or should I just check your website? I may go to the Gosford one not sure.A friend took Stan to the Paws and Claws walk two years ago as I was working and he had to lay down under a tree half way through for a kip He really is the perfect advertisement for the fact that not all greyhounds need a lot of exercise. newfsie
We go and our dogs enjoy all the social stuff, we take all four and Annabelle does some Carting. We are also part of the Obedience Demo with the Local Kennel Club and GSD Club. Our Local RSPCA (Albury) are a good lot and I will support them....... It is a great day out, we also have Paws in the Park earlier last month in Wodonga Edited April 28, 2012 by newfsie
melzawelza
I'll be going but only because I have a free ticket and it's really the kind of step up for my rescue dog's socialisation training that is needed (She gets very over excited when she sees other dogs - I've got her pretty good in the street and small- med training classes now so a big group like that will be the next test for her). If I didn't have a free ticket I wouldn't be going - Until RSPCA NSW change some of their policies and improve their kill rates they won't get a penny from me. Dju
I want to go but they won't accept titre tests and I refuse to give my dog vaccinations unless he needs them. It's quite sad, I went last year and we had quite a lot of fun :)
WreckitWhippet
Not a snow balls chance in hell for that one. I'd prefer to be part of rescue that really makes a difference and if I am going to give my money away, it's not going to be the RSPCA.
Swizzlestick
For those of you who would enjoy the walk but don't want to support the RSPCA, you can always walk without paying the entry fee.

Unless its on the entry form, I cant remember?

tlc
Off topic for a sec, Demi, did Hugo have vacs when he was a pup? Just curious, I have always thought we over vaccinate our animals but I just cannot bring myself not to vaccinate mine. But in saying that I have always vaccinated 4 dogs and one of my cats, the other cat (20yrs old) had her first vacs as a kitty and no more ever and she has been healthy as a horse for 20 years. She doesn't go to the cattery but our other cat does and they won't accept him if he is not up to date with his vaccinations. Back on topic, here is my lot with the pic at the Melbourne MPW about 4 years ago

Dju
Ah whoops yes TLC, he did get all of his puppy shots! :D I was just referencing what they said on their Facebook page, i.e. "you must be up to date with your vaccinations". And they followed up to my question on Titre testing with "Hi Demi xxx, unfortunately by not having his latest vaccination, this puts other dogs attending at risk, therefore we would ask if he is attending to please have his vaccination." And some other person followed up with "& this is why I don't take my dogs on this walk ... proof of vaccination should be a requirement of entry (" As though my dog is diseased or something Edited May 17, 2012 by Dju
Mystiqview
Nope. Got baby puppies here. There is a parvo warning out for Brisbane. Too many dogs in one area, and one is bound to be carrying it or has it. Last thing I want is to bring it home to the wee ones. While my other adult ones are vaccinated, The thought of too many clueless owners thinking they can walk up to every dog and let their dog play with yours is disgusting. I would not walk up to random children and pat them, so, the same should be done with dogs. (yes I know the registration form states you must (or at least SHOULD have fully vaccinated pets) however, does not stop a dog from carrying the virus, and does not stop the idiots who would not know parvo if they tripped over it. Guest donatella
What constitutes fully vaccinated? Lucy had her 3 x puppy shots but hasn't had her 12 month booster yet as I believe you give this 12 months after the last puppy shot (so at 16 months. She is just 12 months old now. Does that make her not fully vaccinated and therefore at risk in Qld at the moment with the parvo outbreaks aka stay the frak away from this event if possible? One of my friends keeps nibbling at me to go with her and her maltese

smisch
Nup too many idiots, figured we'd take the kids up to the petbarn fun day to grab some dog food and then up to dogs overboard for a swim if it's not packed, we've never been there before but we have a few who would benefit from some hydrotherapy
leighw
I'm going to the Canberra walk. Have been every year since it started at Lake Gininderra. The dogs love it and it gives me a chance to catch up with my friends.
