Doggy daycare has become fad with many people jumping on board but i would be wanting to see there facilities,what there plan is for big/little/nasty/boisterous dogs . We go for walks but we don't tend to see much dogs, and if we do then they are larger and really excited ones that scares her. She's 4 months old at the moment and is a small breed. She does spend some time with my Mum's two dogs, which she gets along with, but she does take time to warm up to other dogs. She's really good with people. I wouldn't want to put a pup (or dog) in with a bunch of dogs I don't know, especially when I can't be there to supervise personally. What breed is your dog? I have a small breed dog and I wouldnt trust anyone with her, even a larger breed boisterous pup can do damage trying to play. beezneez Posted April 24, 2012 Share Posted April 24, 2012 STRONGLY recommend Doggy day care called K9to5 in Osbourne Park. The owners are lovely and the workers are awesome too ( i am friends with one of the current workers there outside of the day care) My dog has regained her confidence around other dogs after a bad experience at doggy training. Strongly recommend it, dogs are highly supervised and lots of activities for them to do during the day!!! Love it there. Originally joined to help her confidence and was aiming on doing it for a month. 3 Months later and i never intend to take her out as long as i can afford it. Not sure how pricey it is, as i didnt look around. I pay $38 for a day a week. Dogs are put in on days with suitably sized dogs which helps heaps!!! trinabean Posted April 24, 2012 Share Posted April 24, 2012 I thought the puppy classes offered through Murdoch TAFE were quite good. It's further away from the areas you've mentioned and isn't a doggy daycare but the class is well-run. As far as socialization goes, all interactions between pups are supervised by qualified trainers, who explain body language well. It a puppy class focussed on the basics (starting on focus, 'si't etc, positive/rewards-type training). I think a doggy daycare is run from there also, but I haven't used it and can't say whether it is good or not. The facilities looked fairly typical of many where they just mix all size dogs in one big room. And yes the woman fair enough your not a dog person but gosh you could be a little nicer... Going back to the daycare is this typical open plan or are their others where they are in kennels?? Anyway like I said I wouldn't use one If I am socialising my boy I want to be in control and know he is safe anyway... There are actually 3 separate areas, next to each other, but they only filmed in the main big area. They have crates for quiet time or rest time when needed or when someone needs to calm down but typical of dog daycares it is generally open and they are able to run around for the day. She is a medium sized border collie, and there are a few smaller dogs, but not that many, most of them are larger breeds, similar breeds. I find that they are grouped very appropriately. I have also visited on a different day where the smaller breed dogs are in. Which i thought was good, there wasn't any larger dogs or more intimidating dogs and they all seemed happy and playing. Strongly reccommend K9to5 in ozzie park. I actually took her to puppy class at the vet's, and they also run doggy day care there, although I'm not sure how many they have in there and how they do things.
