*Avanti*
I very recently noticed my dog has a black spot on her eye. I only noticed it from taking a photo of her as the camera exaggerated her elderly eyes that are going hazy (cataracts?) except for the spot. It does not seem to be causing her any problems at this stage but I thought I might ask if anyone has had any experience with something like this. It seems to stay in the same spot on her iris just under her pupil. She is 10.5 years old. I found this link on the topic but the thread was quite brief and now too old to post on. http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/162715-eye-problem/page__p__3536443__hl__%2Bblack+%2Bspot+%2Beye__fromsearch__1#entry3536443 Photo attached, we were playing dress-ups which is why I took her pic :D . Thanks in advance for any replies. :) Edited to add another pic. Edited April 23, 2012 by LabTested

Guest Ams
When doing animal triage, eyes come very high on the list of must see sooner rather than later, so I'd organise a vet visit to have it checked.
Mason_Gibbs
I have seen that before but no idea what I is. I would get it checked ASAP though
Life Of Riley
Looks like an Iris cyst, my dog had one years ago, I took him to the eye specialists and they zapped it with a laser.
*kirty*
Yes it looks like an iris cyst. If you tilt his head does it move? If so, its unlikely to cause any problems. If it gets too big or there are too many of them, you can pop it with a laser or have them sucked out. If it is adhered to the iris, I would get it checked out. It could be something else. redangel
It looks like a iris cyst, but I am not a vet therefore I would recommend having it checked out. You would hate to let it go and find out later it was a melanoma or such. I wish you all the best for a simple answer to this question.
*Avanti*
Thanks for the replies. I had a talk with my vet, she said it could be a melanoma but does not have the expertise to investigate. We are off to see a doggy eye specialist next week. She is getting on in years so it will be good to have an overall opinion about her eyes anyway.
