Jumabaar
Yes baby steps baby steps. Though I do want to say that the breeder never ever said that the price was based on colour only quality :) I was assuming this may be related to limited vs mains registration. Could I be wrong? I am sure it could be- but as a breeder I tend to allocate based on temperament first. If the one with the best structure needs a home that can deal with a high drive dog but only want a pet then they get it as a pet at pet price. You don't want a pup that has been put on limited register because it is miss marked (aka no real fault as a pet) but has the wrong temperament for you. You should be able to tell the breeder your price range and then get the most suitable pup for your situation. If the breeder doesnt have anything suitable then they should recommend someone who will. You shouldn't feel pressured into spending the max amount to get a pup that is suitable. Perhaps ask the breeder to explain the extreme price variation and why they have it in place. That being said other breeds to have a large difference in price between main and limited- they are usually rarer breeds though. I hope that makes sense. Not a problem then really. If you want a pet pup there's no reason to look for a pup on the main register. However this price is very abnormal for the breed (except amongst the blue puppy farmers) and I would suggest you might be better served looking elsewhere. This ^^^^ Also please reconsider if you are purchaseing a blue pup. Im not going to say all blues have health issues but i can say every single one i have met ( and there has been quite a few ) has had major health issues and to have to pay hundreds on health problems within months of forking out thousands for a blue puppy. However it is your choice so research carefully if you do decide to purchase a blue puppy.
gemsan
Thank you so much everyone. We most definately decided that a blue pup is not for us. However the staffords that look like they have a pirate patch....hmmm :D
RiverStar-Aura
SBTs are a fantastic breed and it's refreshing to see a puppy buying doing a LOT of research first!! My advice is only coming as an owner but I'd definitely be weary of such an extreme price difference. I understand that the cost of a puppy varies from breed to breed and from breeder to breeder, however, when I was looking at Aussie Terrier puppies, all puppies in the one litter were sold for the same price. Of course breeders of other breeds may do things differently, but with such an EXTREME variance? I'd be curious to know why.

You're lucky though, pied Staffords are pretty common so if you look for the good breeders you're bound to find one with a pup that fits in both colour and the important stuff - but you will need to be patient!
