If I still get confused looks, I say she's the same breed as the dogs that talk on Sesame Street. And yes, her eyes are meant to be that colour! About my greyhound Yes he used to race No he doesn't bite Yes he is big No he isn't underweight Yes he loves to sleep No one is never enough Yes he is the perfect pet :) That fits the greyhounds next door perfectly. Except they still race & they are perfect neighbours (just ask my tibbies who love them). Now my breed. 'Tibetan Spaniels were kept in the Buddhist monasteries of Tibet as companion dogs for the monks. So they're an easy breed to live with. Their nature is like 1/3 dog (loyal & loving), 1/3 cat (self-possessed & clean) & 1/3 monkey (intelligent & happy).' They are high maintenance grooming. They are 110% Terrier temperament. They have a Very Strong prey drive. Puppy socialisation is Very Important. With the Hungarian Vizsla I say that they are a pointer, like a Weimaraner or German Shorthaired Pointer and I look for the light bulb go on with either of those breeds, usually they know one of them. I then explain they are basically bred to so the same as the gsp/weimaraner, but originate from Hungary and are slightly smaller and a different colour. They were used to hunt large game in germany til all the large game died out, now they hunt birds. You see them on Sesame Street... English Setter - "Oh i used to have one of those except it was red" oh you mean an Irish Setter, well they are slightly different, English Setters originated in England and were used to find birds before guns were invented. English Setters are the smaller, heavier, calmer version of the Irish Setter. OR No it's not a cross breed, it's an English Setter "so did they cross it with a Dalmatian?". And hares, foxes etc. No, not as big as the Irish ones. No they don't need much grooming. Yes, they do look a little bit like Rough Collies, but they're different. emery Posted April 19, 2012 Share Posted April 19, 2012 Since the ban on tail docking i have often had my female rottis mistaken for labs, good way of introducing the breed when i call them over and they go oh they aren't labs, Nope they are rottweilers. Ons Posted April 19, 2012 Share Posted April 19, 2012 (edited) when I say I have to Coolies and a Border Collie I get the blank stare and than the Oh I love the border collie they are so smart. Than I just say they are working sheep dog and works the sheep I get blank stares with coolies too. So I often say "Australia's oldest working dog, commonly known as the German Coolie as Germans developed them in South Australia and they look a bit like a kelpie and alot are blue cattle dog colouring" I normally then whip out my ipod touch and show pictures of my two with my griffon I say it's the dog out of "As good as it gets" but mine has a smooth coat. APBT - To the adults - no she is not a shar pei cross, does not kill babies, and yes her and my dally are best friends Children - She is a pocket rocket who loves to give kisses.
