Can that be used at the same time as comfortis??

ETA- looks like other people have

Yeap this is what I was thinking considering his so god dam sensitive to everything would it be safe to use both??

If so im off to get it now!!

OH said to also bomb the laundry and back yard and wash his bedding in vinegar>?

Just check the packaging for any warnings or ring a vet for a more reliable answer

  • 3 months later...

Have no idea if Gus' problem is anywhere near related to my dog's problem but my boy's seems to be related to digestive issues and when he has been on ONE protein source for an extensive period of time, he has the tendency to break out into hives, even though he might have been doing quite nicely on the one protein source for a goodly period of time.

I'm still working on narrowing down and ID'ing his food intolerances to determine what (if any?) meat protein source he is not intolerant too.

ETA: I don't panic about hive break-outs anymore. Admittedly they don't happen as frequently and when they do they are not as prevalent as they once were (maybe because I get onto them with the Calendula Tea a lot faster because I'm ready for them???). IF for whatever good reason I might have that I've left Mandela on the one protein source in a stretch and he throws a reaction, I wet him up with Calendula Tea and flick him back onto ZD (which he'll sometimes eat with relish and then goes off it once he's feeling better).

Don't know if that snippet of our experience helps you at all, TCM.

As soon as I saw it, I brewed up a tea straight away and have been sponging him / making him drink it since i saw them... he has been on Artemis and chicken wings.

Is there any pollen that comes out this time of year?

The other thing I can think of is salt water from the beach? we were at the beach on the weekend and its seem to have gotten worse since then.

For a good 3 months though his been clear

We're a few weeks away from Spring. Already, Spring flowers are into bloom, so if this is the time of year Gus generally goes into meltdown specifically at this time of the year, maybe pollens are the culprit.

If you think it could be something from the beach, try a Calendula Tea wash straight after the beach. If that works, try it for a bit longer and then don't try it .... and see what happens.

Lumps are gone this morning thank god for Calendula Tea!!, I have brewed a bucket up for drinking water next to their normal water... hopefully that might make him less prone to a huge break out

Gus is a pup hay? My 10 month old pup has had a few bites from something only on her head which naturally she is sticking her head in anything and everything, I still don't know what's doing it to her but it's not flea bits cause it's only on her head in one or two spots. Might just be whatever he is into during the day.

LOL- yes exy but after seeing someone spend $600 in a few months at their regular vet to try and treat skin allergies that a specialist managed to control after two visits I always recommend them sooner rather than later if your not getting a speedy resolution to the problem because all those little consults add up pretty quickly.

Ask your regular vet to contact the specialist before you can go see them.

Most of the time the specialists are happy to give advice. For allergies ost require that you at least complete a Food allergy trial (they will recommend a home cooked diet such as roo and potato/pumpkin) and a strict flea control trial (2 weekly spot on treatments etc). Some will also ask your regular vet to put your dog on antibiotics and anti fungal drugs to clear up any infection before you see them.

A lot of time can be saved if your regular vet just finds out what can be done before you see the specialist.

There are also drug witholding periods if you wish to have skin testing done eg. they must be off any cortisone treatments for at least a month, off antihistamines for 2 weeks etc.

I have been to a few regular vets, they all prescribe the same broad spectrum anti biotic, they do skin swabs and nothing comes up, he has no fleas, I check him regularly and he is fled regularly and its winter, there is never any infection its just an abundance of welts all over his body, not under his tummy or head/face just back sides and sometimes on his thighs

A vet did recommend a diet of chicken and rice, we did do that and there was no change.... that tea is the ONLY thing we have tried that has worked over night...... but I will not see a vet again about this issue because they have all provided no help and show clear signs of not knowing themselves what to do, they un and aaa and take swaps again then charge me $75 for it.....and they just asked for a vet reference to get a medical history,

Its so hard to find a helpful vet sometimes who doesnt just want to milk you.

Have you been to the natural vet in Russell Lea? All Natural Vet Care, I think they are called. I've not been there but heard good things about them for treatment of illnesses that no traditional vets could help with.
