Alkhe
Wow. I'm sure there are some dodgy breeders out there who would be mighty interested in isolating that defective gene! The American Bulldog and APBT come to mind - I've seen some shocking youtube videos and websites of breeders who seem to aim for that look. Whippetsmum
I hadn't seen that particular article, but had heard of the condition. I thought, probably wrongly, that there were some serious health implications for that mutation.
Simply Grand
Oh someone just told me about Wendy the Whippet the other day. I would think her normal sized heart would struggle with twice as much muscle as she should have. Same with the joints in her legs, seeing as they're normal size. The article said she had a shorter life expectancy but it sounds like the years she has will be good ones!
BlaznHotAussies
Poor girl! Crazy that they like this kinda trait in Quarter horses and I think some cows..? Looks even worse on a dog that's supposed to be sleek!!
Jigsaw
There is a breed of cattle that have the same gene defect, not the prettiest looking beasts in my opinion!
