Dog Baiting Incident

Hi Everyone

Would just like to give everyone who's up on the Central Coast (NSW), around the San Remo/Budgewoi area, a warning about someone going around baiting/poisoning dogs.

A friend of mine rang me this morning before she went work and said that as she was outside hanging washing out this morning she noticed her dogs, a couple of Chi's, going over to something on the lawn and when she inspected it it was some raw sausage mince with some greeny substance inside it which she suspects is rat poison. The mince was in a ball and luckily her dogs are very fussy eaters. I have told her to let the police know and to take the mince down to the police station. She also said the the mince did not look that old so was still quite fresh. Someone is throwing it over back fences.

She went to a neighbour four doors away and showed him, he said that he had one of his boxers was poisoned a couple of weeks ago and it didnt survive. He was at work at the time and came home to find the dog on the back lawn.

So please everyone just be aware and careful that some low life is doing this in the neighbourhood..My friend will doorknock this afternoon all around to see if anyone else has had an incident or knows of anything.

Linus

Might be worth contacting the local paper and radio station too to see if they can run a story and warn people.

That's just so sad. :( I seriously don't know how some people sleep at night... :mad

Is your friend absolutely sure her dogs didn't eat any?

She said her dogs were attempting to nibble at the sides of the bait, she also said that her dogs dont like raw meat so werent really attracted to it. I did tell her watch her dogs and she will have to keep them inside with no access out the back while she is at work. She now feels a bit apprehensive about going to work, she will also look into getting outdoor surveillance cameras going, I said maybe to try and link it live feed to your phone?? Dont know if thats possible.

If she gets a hold of him/her, he'd better look out!! She is fuming!!

Ohh, she also mentioned that this happened to a freind of her daughter's dog recently (maybe some weeks ago) so she will see if theres a link somewhere..

This is why I leave my lot inside if I am not home. There are certainly some sickos in the world!! Hope they catch the scum, which they probly won't but an article in the paper and local awareness might be enough to scare them. She could pop up some flyers letting people know to be aware!

Just an update, my friend took her dogs to the vet for a check up, she explained what happened, the vet has given dogs something to make them throw up and sent them home and just observe them. She was worried that they have nibbled and swallowed some bait. The vet seems to think the mince contained snail bait. She has also rang coucil, police and vet in the area. Police informed her that they cannot act or do anything unless, the culprit is caught. She is now doorknocking neighbours and will make flyers and hand them out around her local shops and letter boxes.

She has also purchased surveillance cameras which she will have installed sometime this week. Hopefully this will be enough to deter the culprit.

I live in the area, in Blue Haven, and I thank you for the warning. It is something that has always concerned me, and now I will be extra vigiliant. Hope the beeps that did it are apprehended, and dealt with.
