I'd also like to take the opportunity to thank Sarasmum who came and visited me in hospital when I was far from home and brought me some wonderful clothes and chocolate which I badly needed! :D I still haven't found a way to thank her properly but she made such a huge difference, as did everyone's thoughts during that time, it definitely helped me through it :)

Sounds like a nomination to me.

Thank you Sarasmum for taking time out for woofnhoof.

Oh piffle. I just wanted to see what Woof had her Kindle dressed in ;)

It was a pleasure.

Lol kindle talk is indeed theraputic :) You are a champion

DOL is a great community

I may not post too often, but have met many great friends through this forum who are always willing to help out if needed.

We are currently driving back home to Adelaide after attending the MDBA awards in Brisbane & a wonderful Doler, knowing we were stopping in Wagga Wagga for a few nights & sleeping in our car, offered us a place to stay with them, even though they are in the process of moving house and also have a very new, 2 week old baby :D

 we are so grateful that someone would welcome complete strangers into their home to stay.... :thanks: Stacey & family!!

Sorry to spoil the warm fuzzy feelings but this forum is depressing and alienating for those who are not having such a wonderful DOL experience. :(

Sometimes General is not a very nice place, but it's worth it to keep posting until you get enough cred to get into the secret section. ;) :shhh:

Some threads on DOL make me cringe and others do have a warm fuzzy feeling. The secret section is definitely nicer, though it could be a bit over the top when Midol was around

We all have a "trial by fire" padraic... hang in there, and you'll make some really great friends around here... honest!

Sometimes I would like to say something or ask the forum users a question that I dont want the person Im talking about to see - like when we were doing Erny's quilt I would have much preferred it to be a surprise or if we have a collection needed for someone in trouble etc - might ask Troy if he could open up a forum and not let that one person see it and never know it exIsts when they land here.

I don't contribute a huge amount to the forum, but I sure love reading all the contributions, and learn alot. I didn't know about the Off Topic section, and was surprised suddenly one day not long ago to start receiving all these "Off Topic" subjects :) Must be when you hit a certain number of posts..... are there any more secrets I can look forward to along the way ??

Yep the baptism of fire is very much alive and well, it's a shame and I don't really think it should be that way. Hopefully as social networking evolves the mechanisms of courtesy and respect that are integral in most other forms of social interactions will become more and more uniform across this medium as well.

I doubt it. Anonymity inspires folk to do things they otherwise wouldn't. An absence of real life consequences for poor behaviour is always going to be asking for trouble and frankly there are some right toxic individuals here.

Padraic I seem to recall you came in swinging here... that might explain some of the grief you've been getting.

Yes there is a certain amount of anonymity on forums but it doesn't last, there would be very few people here that no one knows in real life. We have seen evidence of that in times of emergency when usually someone knows how to get in contact with someone from here. As time goes on the anonymity aspect will become less and less relevant as human nature means that connecting with people on a forum makes them want to connect in other areas, hence the social gatherings, facebook groups etc. That's what I think (and hope) anyway.

Great things seem to happen around this forum, sadly, the cult of attacking, and trying to discredit a person they do not even know, seems to be true with the APB fanciers. Such a shame! Excuse my pidgin English, it is only my second language. :curtsey:

There are hardly any threads about the APBT in comparison to most threads that go awry on this forum. It's clear that you have an issue with the breed, but if you keep constantly bringing them up, especially in threads like this with no relevance whatsoever you will find you sometimes get responses you aren't happy with. I've never seen anyone be rude to you, only try and explain that your perception is incorrect and based on emotion rather than fact.

There are plenty of breeds I don't like and I'd never own. But I wouldn't be so rude as to constantly bring them up and not only attack the dogs but the owners as you now have.

well without dol i would not have met some great folks like woodbyne and kirty...and barkon who transported sophie...

the short story was woobyne asked for help with 5x dals she basically had dumped on her. sophie was one, they were terrifed and unhandled/unsocialised at all.

2 years later she is a better memeber of doggie society than leo who has no reason to be a pia...we needed another dog like a hole in the head... and although its been huge work and tough too... the fact that she loves playing and snuggling like no other dog i have met... which is nice she can forgive being underfeed over bred and treated with i think force.
