k9angel
I discovered 'cropping' today. :) well I knew what it was (thanks to my banner maker  ) but hadn't tried it with my pics until today. Wow, it's incredible what you can do with them... :) Here's a closer up of the bird I managed to snap yesterday in the garden. A couple more And a lonely dove sitting in the way of a pretty rainbow this afternoon. Edited March 16, 2012 by k9angel
Kirislin
cropping can make or break a photo, it gives you a second chance at composition that might save an ordinary or even off photo into a perfect one. I agree with Snook in the case of your first bird, the litte wren, it's a bit too tight, but that's OK, you still have the original to play around with. Have you heard of the rule of thirds? there's lots of explanations of it online and have a look at these images with the grid overlaid, you'll get the idea. http://www.google.com.au/search?q=%22rule+of+thirds%22&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=mgy&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=a5VjT8KTCMm4iQfG3NDIBQ&ved=0CEMQsAQ&biw=1024&bih=

k9angel
Thanks for the tips guys. And thankyou for the link Kirislin. I also agree that the original pic of the wren is nicer than the heavily cropped one. :)
