Graham,

I have just read your explanation.Fantastic..so clear. Could you please ask the ANKC to add this to their neuter explanation section because I was virtually bullied by a guy from another melbourne dog club on Sunday at our warragul show that there was only a neuter in show and no classes. He would not believe me when I stated that he was incorrect and that there were 4 neuter classes available now. I had put up 2 neuter classes and he was ranting at me. He has not kept up with the latest info.but the last part you explained is not clear enough in the Dogs Vic magazine...so lots of confusion especially because most clubs are giving a neuter in show sash. We only had open on show and junior in show thanks to excellent guidance from one of the neuter exhibitors.

Kathy

Hi

I have written a guide to the neuter classes for show committees, but due to hold up in the approval process it has not yet been presented to the ANKC Board. This will be done in the very near future.

I am the show secretary for Warragul dog club and I do not think clubs should expect donations for the neuter classes. I was very happy to include them for the right reasons...that is to promote the dog show world to more people and refresh the whole scene. The clubs are making so much extra money for very little output, but more importantly they are stepping up to the mark and leading the way for others to follow. Tradition is what controls what classes are placed on the schedule a well as time frames I'm guessing.

It will take some time to change the majority of peoples minds with this but it will come..the smart ones are getting in early and gaining their titles now.

Overall we had 39 neuters entered...I will have to check the dog entries for the other classes they brought in. Give me a few days as I'm off to Kerang/ Cohuna this weekend so am very busy getting organized for that in between working.

I would also like to hear from you all about how you feel about when and how you are judged. I get the feeling that neuters are treated like poor cousins...maybe that is to be expected initially in this pure breed world.

We had a great day - our Grp Judge was lovely and enjoyed the dogs - he gave the NIG Class members ALL a good look as we went around the ring and gave the same amount of time to looking at each exhibit again - in short he 'judged' the class, I really enjoyed it and so did my girl.

It was only when it came to the NIS class that I felt there was no patience or tolerance from alot of the people in the club.

As for being "treated like poor cousins . . . maybe that is to be expected initially in this pure breed world" - all the neuters are pure bred dogs. From there I can only speak of my own girl - she is one of the most highly titled Dobermanns in Australia (2 others being her progeny), she has 12 titles including her NDCA Register Of Merit and a DUAL CH Title, she is a multi Specialty, Best In Group & ALL Breeds Class In Show Winner - she has had two litters - the first with 3 Champions, 2 Dual Champions and 2 Register Of Merits (& another not shown who has produced 2 Champions and 1 Register of Merit from 1 litter) - the second with 3 dogs pointed to title so far - she is most certainly not a poor cousin.

She is 9 1/2 almost 10 years old and she loves to come out on occasion to be shown - loves it ! And with most clubs not running open shows or sweepstakes for veterans the chance to show her doesn't come around often. I appreciate the clubs who run these classes and they will normally get my other entries of 3 to 5 other dogs - so I appreciate some courtesy shown to my dog who is a history writer in our breed and she hasn't finished yet with her progeny achieving more and more.

It takes time to convert people to a different mind set. Most people from the club have no opinion one way or the other...they are just there to run the show. They were quite happy to go along with my suggestion to include neuter classes into the schedule.

The final judging was clouded by confusion about run offs but that came about because of lack of communication and understanding about the whole process. It will be good when it is fully explained in dogs vic magazine.

Kilmore Kennel Club INC 16/12/2012

Neuter Entries.

Group 1

9 entries.

For the Cavs the Neuter Class had the biggest entry. !!

Group 2

2 Entries

Group 3

6 Entries

Group 4

1 Entry and I believe they are only Neuter hound in Vic being Shown.

Group 5

7 Entries

Group 6

6 Entries

Group 7

1 Entry

Total 32.

Fabulous entry and I did not attempt to add what other dogs came with theNeuters.

But roughly 1 other dog per neuter gives you 64 entries.

Therefore 64x12 = $768 tidy profit from that IMO.

And I for one only entered this show because the Neuter Class was offered, I wouldn't have if it wasn't. So thank you Kilmore KC for the chance to show my neuter boy, he loves to come out and show off (& he won another Best Neuter In Group too :)).

Thank you Kilmore for offering the Neuter classes.

LOl of me being half cripple trying to keep up with him !!!! I would love that if you don't mind :) -thank you so much. Clare got some lovely shots of him in the GS Ring & on the move too, even though I couldn't run hardly at all by that stage.

Again, congrats on your young girl getting a beautiful BOB & Puppy In Group - very nice win, esp under a breed person.

Not at all Bisart, it is lovely. My husband was focusing on Dyzney as you can imagine, so you are missed in a couple of bits sorry, but what we see of you and your boy is nice.

Thank you about Seven's results. That was pretty thrilling for us, she is not even 10 months old.

Thanks for that - he was a good boy & it gave me a chance to see what I am doing wrong with him LOL. Can always keep learning ! I am doing show lessons in the New Year, I need a kick up the butt again :).

I have not long been back in Victoria and as busy studying this year have not shown but will be re joining dogs vic for 2013 and changing my dogs pedigree over to Nueter and then we will be entering. In Darwin small numbers at most shows across all rings all catogories but they hold neuter classes at most shows!
