persephone
Sarplaninac are few & far between.... what does it say on her pedigree ? She should have a pedigree and originate from a registered breeder - that is the only way you can be certain of her parentage.
LizT
Are they a Guardian Herding breed? Looka bit like a Leonburger to me. Can't find much info in English on them.

BJean
Yeah great dogs owned one b4 but never heard of one in red It depends where you get the dog from ... Sarp is crossed with Leonberger in Vic and rough coat Anatolian/Kangal. I think there is one breeder who actually imported two dogs ... they're not my thing so I don't remember the details much. RE red: do you mean red fawn? Probably best to post a photo.

BJean
Do you know them Lilli? Probably not big compared to your breed of choice. :) There is a DOL member who breeds Sarp but I forget their name I know of Sarp and have seen some in Vic, but for the most part, the number of cross bred Sarp, far exceed the number of pure bred Sarp. Nekhbet
if you're asking if she's pure ... you need to find another breeder. AFAIK they don't come in 'red', they are a sable with varying shades of fawn/white/grey but not red There is a breeding pair in Australia but the pups are few and far between. Unless you are very experienced with dogs I wouldn't be getting one at all, not something to mess with in a hurry.
Boronia
Google Images show a couple of red (well sort-of red), but it may just be the light/evening sun. http://www.google.com/search?client=ubuntu&channel=fs&q=sarplaninca&oe=utf-8&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=P0NTT7LABsahiQfopo30Cw&biw=1024&bih=582&sei=RUNTT-GJBIiimQXFncShCg
brintey
AFAIK They are not quite as big as a Leonberger but come in the same Ay Ay sable, which is basically anywhere from cream to red with a black overlay. The Sarplaninac is not a recognised ANKC breed at this point in time. I think that Southern Star Sarplaninac http://southernstarsarp.com/index-old.htm are the owners of the original breeding pair. brintey
Yes he is the first I got my first through him as nd yes she's pure just rare Tweety, I would ring Southern Star and have a chat about the bloodlines if you are worried your new red Sarplaninac is not pure. This gentleman was very helpful when a Sarplaninac came up in a Sydney pound a few years ago - I'm sure he could steer you in the right direction.
