Head Nodding

Hi All,

I'm hoping someone might have some info.

We have a 6 MO JRT puppy, who I have noticed when he is sitting relaxed, not doing anything, his head will bob or nod a couple of times. Then if i watch it'll happen again a minute or so later. It doesn't happen when he's sleeping or playing/active. We haven't been to the vet yet, he doesn't seem to be affected by it, but it is concerning me.

Has anyone seen anything like this before?

My British bulldog has had a few episodes of "idiopathic head bobbing". If you search youtube you'll find examples of it and then you can compare to what your dog is doing. It can be a "yes" motion or a "no" motion, my boy is a "yes" man :)

My boy first exhibited this when he was highly excited, but then witnessed another 2 episodes when he was completely calm. He also had an episode under stress at the vet. It is a benign condition. I found giving him a couple of doses of Mag Phos, I found it in a spray, got everything under control again.

Thanks for that AJ. Off to the vet on Saturday, so I've got some footage of him doing it. I'm just hoping that it's nothing serious.
