Podengo
If you have a puppy that has naturally erect ears, at what age were they standing? Did they drop during teething and go up after? I am just curious, as my mix breed puppy has one ear standing now (4.5 months old) and one with just the tip dropped, I am wondering if her ears will make it all the way up or if they will flop back down when she is done teething. I know I could tape them if I cared enough, but I am just curious :) Pictures of your semi-erect eared puppies would be most appreciated too ;)
FlowerProwler
Onyx' ears went up at around 12weeks, they were only about 1 day apart. Apparently both his parents ears went up early as well. He's 4.5months at the moment and neither ear has dropped - yet. I've attached a couple of pics from the one up, one down stage :p
minimiss
Looking at Benny's ears from the pictures I received when he was a couple of weeks old, they were pretty much erect then too.. The tips were a little floppy, but otherwise erect. His ears currently look way out of proportion due to the transition from puppy fluff to being an adult fluff ball Pomeranian. He currently looks like a Chihuahua (Around 3 weeks old) (10 weeks old) (Around 12weeks old) (18 weeks old)
Chequeredblackdog
FlowerProwler omg Onyx is GORGEOUS! <3 My kelpie's (9ish months now) ears slwly came up from about 5ish months. He had crazy ears, ine went up, came down, other ear half up, down, up, down etc..... then up with the tips down. Now they're both up and staying up. (and GINORMOUS. Lol)
Simply Grand
Onyx and Benny, toooo gorgeous! Riley's ears went up, down and all over the place when he was teething. Breed standard calls for tips flopped forward on erect ears. As a baby his ears were straight, between 4 and 6 months both ear tips swapped around. He retained his puppy canines and lost his last one at 6 or 7 months and only after that did his ears settle. He's ended up with 1 up, 1 down, which hasn't changed in about 3 months now so I suspect is permanent. ETA - no hang on, I think his ears were flopped over as a baby! Point is they didn't settle until his puppy teeth were well and truly gone and his adult teeth thru :) Edited February 22, 2012 by Saxonpup
minyvlz
When I got him (8 weeks) both ears were floppy and the vet said they'd never stand, but around 3 months both ears were erect until he was 5 months. At 6 months it was back to one up one down. They finally stayed up at around 7-8 months. This is when he had two floppy ears: One ear up the other down: Both ears up: after grooming (where another Westie owner thought he was a chihuahua ) now at 1.5 years I didn't really care whether his ears stood or not - actually I thought it was much cuter with only one erect ear. Though I've heard that the erect ear gene is a dominant one and am not sure how true that is.

Guest Clover
I am on crazy eared puppy watch at the moment . But the joy is i dont actually know how old said puppy is, she could be anywhere from 5 -6 ish months old which is not a huge gap. She has fianlly lost all her baby teeth so should her ears settle down now? Both her ears a semi erect at the moment, i'd love for one to be pricked and one not . The day i got her 3 weeks ago. And about a week ago. Edited February 24, 2012 by Clover
Kirty
My GSD puppy's ears have been up and down since I got her. They are now mostly erect (6 months old) however when she is really hot or stressed, they both flop down! I think they will end up erect though. :) Edited February 24, 2012 by Kirty
laeral
My GSD,s were up when i picked her up at 10 weeks. They went a little floppy around the 3 month mark but have been up since then. BTW just have to say Bianca cooper is gorgeous!!! Not that I'm biased about black GSDs
Esky the husky
Esky's were well and truly up by ten weeks They are a bit strange though, the tips are still soft and bounce around when she runs. Sometimes the flop down a bit and look like rough collie/ sheltie ears
