Dogsfevr
Wet tail is very common in Labs & goldies, generally its takes a few days to come good, some use pain killers to help but many just let nature take its course unless dog is very unhappy
persephone
My cockerX had this a couple of years ago ..and he was very miserable..I just had him on his bed, and used warm wheat packs on the tail base when I could . It camegood after a few days :) Just make sure your dog does not have an injury ..and that is IS cold tail ...
becks
One of my minis had this for a few days (and she hadn't been swimming and weather wasn't that cold). She was in no pain with it, so it was just a wait and see approach. I know a few GS who have had this and required painkillers for several days. hilaryo
Show beagles have been known to get it, particularly when away from home and bathed late in the day when it is cold. Then then they are confined in a crate or trailer. I recommend blow drying the tail area, both the tail and all around the base. Can't hide it in the ring with beagles as they must have an erect tail :D
goldielover
If it is cold tail, should be ok in a few days. Just make sure you dry the base of the tail and around the tail well after swimming/washing, etc.
JackieW
My old GWP had it once. It came good in a couple of days.
laneka
One of my Rotts can suffer this too. Mainly in winter when sitting on cold grounds. Hers usually lasts 3-4 days then all is fine again.
Podengo
I think this may have happened to our mix breed dog, she had been out swimming with the neighbour's G/ret and came home with a limp, sore tail that took a few days to come right... We took her to the vets for X rays and everything!
SparkyTansy
Happened to James once - he was very distressed about it when it happened, but it came good the next day.
RubyStar
My Lab gets this. She actually started getting it last night after spending the whole day in the pool, and I thought here we go, days of a sad looking tail! But it seems to have come good this morning. Question to those who suggest using painkillers - what do you give? Dog prescribed ones from a vet? Or a dose of human ones? Would be handy to know, thanks!! trifecta
You'll have to change your DOL username - with a moniker like 'alpinecool' no wonder you have cold water tail
