Thanks for all the good ideas every one. I got a sand pitt from BigW yesterday and just have to go to miter 10 for the sand now.

I would give him a coke bottle but I'm scared he will eat the plastic. He had some plastic toys that he chewed and some bit got eaten so I'm not to keen on that idea.

I would just give him a cardboard box but it goes every where and even some of it ended up in the naighbours back yard :s

Im not sure if he is bored or what I'm just worried that he is missing me while I'm out. It's not like him to lie still for 2 seconds normally.

I will you all know how the sand pit goes .

I was just wondering because its quite good and normal for a dog to spend a lot of time sleeping while you're out. It shows that they are content, and they know that the fun will start when your home so they might as well snooze the day away :)

If he's not barking, crying, or destroying stuff, I wouldn't be worrying :)

I've spent whole days at home where all Esky wants to do is sleep. They certainly don't have to be doing something all the time. :)

If I can see she's getting a bit antsy we go out- have a play or a walk or some training.

I don't think she gets up to much when we aren't around.

Yer I suppose he has to sleep some time, he is just normally non stop energy runs around the house runs around the yard and runs around the horses ( its cute he will actually run around and around and around my old horse while he eats, like he is doing laps)

last night I got an empty plastic water bottle, put kibble, nuts and some cheese treats in there, Gus didn't know what to do with it for a while, sooo I played with it with him, rolling it around making his paws touch it... he quickly caught on that when he kicks the bottle around food comes out... its very simple but something Gus needs the kong was too complex for him, I think this is a good starting point to get his brain working some what logically, he really likes it now, when I got home from work we did a little crate training and then i left him in the laundry with the bottle filled with his dinner and favourite treats... (Gus gets fed twice a day so his pretty hungry when I get home).... maybe give this a try see how it goes for zoros main meals, then when you leave you can put the bottle out and he knows how to play with it.

P.S I had the cap off so that the kibble came out a lot easier

A coke bottle (without the sticker around it) with some water in it. Keeps our dog entertained for a couple of hours at least

Bottles dont work for us, Jager can get the cap off in about 5 mins and then the cap is much more entertaining than the bottle. And I am terrified that he will choke on one.

If you half fill them with chicken stock so it leaks out and they can taste it it keeps them interested for longer.

We freeze kongs with cottage cheese and dog biscuits, this takes a while. If the dog can't get it out, buy the next kong size up so it is easier and when they master this go back to the smaller one.

Big marrow bones take ages, frozen chicken wings. I freeze ice cream containers with watered down stick and put chicken wings, turkey necks etc in it and that takes ages..
