Handbrake pooch crashes car into Charters Towers Veterinary Clinic

A small terrier got its revenge for a vaccination on Tuesday afternoon when it caused its owner's car to crash into a veterinary clinic.

Veterinarian Dr Libby Lynch said the dog's owner had put her pet into the car while she stood outside talking to a friend outside the Charters Towers Veterinary Clinic.

Dr Lynch said she thought the dog had knocked the handbrake out of position, causing the car to roll smash through the front of clinic.

"We'll need a whole new front wall, the door, one of the windows are smashed,'' Dr Lynch said.

The dog's owner, whom Dr Lynch did not want to name, is a regular at the clinic, and was extremely upset over the incident.

"She was distraught, she didn't know what to do,'' Dr Lynch said.

A local builder, who often takes his pets to the clinic, saw the damage shortly after the event, and boarded up the front of the building.

Dr Lynch said this was not the only unfortunate event to occur to the building lately, with a tree falling on the clinic just one month ago.

She said they were hoping for a new clinic building, but circumstances just kept intervening.

I reckon that the handbrake was not on, and instead she had left the car in 'park' if it is an automatic or 2nd gear if it is a manual, the dog then tries to look out of the windscreen and knocks the gearstick with his little scrabbly paws.

Then off he goes...driving straight back into the vets
