Darkrai
If the pup is on limited registration, then when its desexed it can be registered on associate register if the paperwork doesnt come back. You can join the CKC spaniel even if you dont have a Cav. As for the financial question, yes both members should be financial, so the other person is best getting financial or signing it over to the financial member, that way there can be no isssues ;)

If you join as an associate and your breed club runs a restricted to breed obedience or agility trial you probably wont be able to enter. Most breed clubs only allow entries from registered pedigreed dogs. Hang in there for the limited papers. GRD
I don't know how many 'the papers haven't arrived yet' posts there have been on DOL. Bloody Neanderthal K9 associations. Why the hell don't they put pup registration on line!!!!! It would take so much less time. It would avoid so many errors. It would make things more transparent. And it would reduce their costs. Aren't entrenched bureaucracies wonderful :D:) Dogs NSW do offer this service https://dogsecom.ausn.com.au/Login.aspx?state=NSW I believe it is also available to other states through Dogs NSW Graham

Mystiqview
That's correct Maddytheuma. To show you need to have pedigree papers on the Main Register and in your name. Purebred and pedigree can be greatly different things. A person can breed two pedigree dogs together and produce purebred dogs or they can produce pedigree dogs. The only difference is the Pedigree dog is from a Registered breeder with Dogs NSW/QLD etc and has a bred the litter under their breeder's prefix. A purebred dog may be from pedigree parents but the person breeding does not hold a Canine prefix with their state's controlling body. It is against the code of ethics now in ALL states to NOT sell pups with pedigree paper either on the Main Registration or Limit. Limit Registration shows the dog is a pedigree and can compete in all ANKC sports as a pedigree dog EXCEPT conformation showing and be used in a registered breeding program. If that was not done, then you may have no recourse. If you don't know the original breeder's name and prefix, there is probably not much you can do now. kelpiecuddles
Unfortunately all purebred means is that someone took a staffordshire bull terrier and bred it with another staffordshire bull terrier. In order to show your dog needs to be have a pedigree(on main register) which tracks the family tree of your dog through your breeder's registration with your the canine council. Unfortunately you won't be able to show your girl. If down the track you do decide that you want another dog and you would like to get involved in showing feel free to ask in the forums for breeder recommendations, there are lots of lovely knowledgeable people on here who would be more than happy to point you in the right direction to help you find a dog to show!
