Ozstar
My girl has just had a silent season (I think). She was due in season last month and the boys showed interest in her a couple weeks ago but there was no sign of swelling or bleeding, vet also ruled out urine/bladder infection. This would of been her 3rd season, her first was normal and her second was a split season. I have never had any of my girls do this before. Has anyone had their girls do this but have gone on to have normal seasons or successful matings? Leanne
Leema
Clover's first season was a silent season. All her other seasons have been normal, but further apart... That is, the time between her 1st and 2nd season was 7 months, the time between her 2nd and 3rd season was 8 months, the time between her 3rd and 4th season was 9 months, and the time between her 4th and 5th season was 10 months... No, I am not making this up! She successfully had puppies from matings on her 4th and her 5th season. This is a slightly different case from you, but may help in some way... Sandra777
I mated a bitch on a silent season, had a perfectly normal litter (she wasn't a maiden). She went on to have all sorts of hormonal issues though, so not sure I'd do it again. She would come in season every 3 months, never had a silent season after that one though. I had her spayed. Her only daughter (not from the silent heat litter) I have good records for cycled normally but she only ever conceived very small litters for the breed. Leema
I'm bumping this, because I am interested in this, too. :) Are irregular or otherwise 'weird' seasons inherited?
Ozstar
Well my girl has now had to be desexed Looks like that is it for me now after 18 years of showing/breeding. She was my only female and I had a stud lined up to mate her to this season. My new male pup has now got a bad bite (knew he was to good to be true) and has gone to a pet home. Oh well now I can have a life :D Leanne
Sandra777
Sorry to hear that Leanne. I know how heart wrenching it is to loose a family, after 30+ years I lost my direct line to my foundation bitch 18 months ago and it still hurts.
