If you want to meet a few more Tollers, I will be at the Central Gippsland shows in Morwell (I think it's Morwell but around there) on the 7th and 8th of January with my three :)

It's Newborough. I'll be there with two Aussies.

Will try and get there :)

Thanks Jumabaar, while I would like to do agility with this pup its not high on my list.

I want a medium - large dog that is freindly to both people and dogs as well as other animals. Is active but calm in the house, not to much of a barker. Is easy to train ( for agility as well as being able to be let of the lead ) I dont mind a little grooming but nothing that requires a lot of clipping or trips to the groomer. Also a dog that is affeconate and loves to be with its owners.

I wouldn't call a Toller a medium-large breed, though they are similar in height too BC's but smaller than Aussies.

Tollers are not a breed that will go out of their way to socialise with strangers, they are friendly but are extremely loyal and can be reserved. Just warning you as if you meet mine you will probably be snobbed by 2 and thought as a new best friend from my oldest but he is special :p

Most have a fairly high prey drive so while they can live with smaller animals, unknown smaller animals don't get the same respect ;)

They do need a good brush out every week especially if they have a coat like my older boy, it's fairly thick and has a longer coat compared to say my girl who has a shorter coat and less of it.

You must be so excited over the prospective of getting another puppy so soon. Even though it's still another 12 months away, like others have said the time will fly!!

And now you've got 12 months to really sit down and go through all the suitable breeds and find one that you really love!

Medium-large breed have you considered a dalmatian? I don't know anything about them other than my youngest brother keeps harping on that my next dog shuld be one.

But from lurking around DOL I have fallen in love with the Aussies -- they have such beautiful coats and seem like very loveable dogs!

I'm happy for you, so exciting.

Keep in mind kelpies. You can get a brown one or even a red cloud kelpie - both are amazing dogs. I suspect the Australian Cattle Dog is very similar in nature but never had one. Kelpies are highly intelligent, none of mine have been barkers, my current one is basically in indoor dog - very calm, very friendly, super loyal, can take her anywhere, never need a leash (though I always have one), minimum grooming. But she needs to be able to run like the wind as fast as she wants at last once a day - twice is better. She is such a joy. I can't imagine life without a kelpie.
