gemstone
I'm asking this for my sister in uk as she is at her wits end. Jimmy is 8 months old and bites everyone, usually without warning and for no apparent reason he just likes biting. They have tried the NO command, yelping and moving away from him, ignoring it, reprimanding it but nothing seems to work. I have never had a puppy I've always had adult rescues so I cant offer any advice. He is a pure bred lhaso apso and she's had him since 8 weeks old. persephone
There's no magic age when bad manners stop ... it stops when the humans are successful in their application of suitable training ;) if the humans are unsure and unskilled, bad manners can continue for years . perhaps suggest they get some help? Nekhbet
persephone is right. Bad behaviour wont stop until you teach the dog otherwise. If your sister is having trouble get her to spend some time with a good trainer to right the behaviour and probably some other little things that could make the whole situation more enjoyable for dog and owner :D
Cosmolo
What persephone said. 8 months old is no longer a puppy IMO either- the developmental phase involving mouthing is over nd now the dog does it because its enjoyable/ fun. A good trainer is required!
gemstone
thanks guys Persephone I had a laugh at yours, good reply I have already suggested training, first puppy school when she got him for socialisation then a real trainer when the biting became a problem but she is still in denial hoping it will just stop one day. This tells me why the dog is doing what he wants I dont think there is much consistency in his training unfortunately
Dogsfevr
What breed is the dog She can stay in denial but the novelty will soon where off & when something bad happens they only have themselves to blame . Plus the obvious a well mannered dog is one that you enjoy being around a bad mannered dog gets left out through no fault off its own
