The woman allegedly picked up the dog and threw it out her bedroom window 15 metres above the ground. The dog was treated by a vet for a broken leg, broken teeth and suspected internal injuries. Chris the Rebel Wolf
I heard this on the news at work on my radio and nearly threw up. Seriously, the disgusting things people will do. What sort of slap on the wrist do you guys think she'll get? A month of community service? A $1000 fine? The pup won't even be taken off her, I bet. It's amazing the poor little guy lived through this, and he'll probably be sent straight back to a crazy bitch who is capable of throwing an animal out the window. Link to comment
k9angel
I feel the same Aussie3. I saw this on the news and it made me cry. That poor little puppy. He looks so sweet and so scared. As for the thing who threw him, they said she was in custody. I hope she gets hers. I am glad bail has been refused. A link I just found A woman has been charged with animal cruelty after she allegedly threw a puppy out of an apartment window during an argument in Sydney's west. Police say the 24-year-old woman and a man were arguing at a unit in Kingswood on Monday afternoon when she picked up her eight-month-old dog and threw it out the bedroom window. The Staffordshire bull terrier fell 15 metres to the ground and suffered a broken leg, teeth and internal injuries. Inspector Simon Maund says the dog is still being care for by a vet. "We know that there was an argument involving the dog. We're not sure exactly why she took that action," Inspector Maund said. "The dog, in care at the moment, it's stable. It's undergoing further tests today and we're hopeful that the dog will make a full recovery." The woman has been charged with animal cruelty causing serious injury. She faced Parramatta Local Court today and will appear in court again on Thursday. The woman has been refused bail. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2011-12-27/dog-thrown-out-window-during-row/3748100?section=nsw And another link Police who rescued a three-month old puppy thrown from a 15m window in Kingswood have christened the dog ‘Will’ after it showed a miraculous will to survive. The dog’s Kingswood owner had oringally named him Kyza. ‘Will’, also known as ‘Pup’ by the nurses and surgeons at the Baulkham Hills Animal Referral Clinic, has a broken front leg and shattered teeth after falling onto his front end from a unit window. According to police, about 3.45pm Monday an argument broke out between a 24-year-old woman and a male friend in a unit complex on Park Ave, Kingswood. As a result of the argument, the woman allegedly picked up her three-month-old Staffordshire cross dog and threw it out her bedroom window which was 15 metres above the ground. Dr Sarah Goldsmid, a specialist surgeon and director at the Animal Referral Clinic, said St Mary’s Police brought the dog to the clinic at about 5pm Monday. “The puppy was disorientated and vocalising his pain, he had some head trauma and wasn’t able to walk, and had broken his front leg - his elbow - and broken teeth,” Dr Goldsmid said. “We’ve just stabilised it with pain relief and are treating it for shock and it’s had some x-rays but it’s not ready for surgery just yet. “He needs surgery on his elbow or he will end up with a non-functioning front leg.” Dr Goldsmid said the RSPCA was now involved and would likely start looking for a new home for the dog. It has been an eventful Christmas period for Dr Goldsmid, of Balgowlah, as the Animal Referral Clinics are one of the few veterinary surgeries open through the holiday break. “It’s the busiest time for the whole year, we have staff running everywhere,” she said. “It’s a busy time not just because we’re one of the only clinics open but also because animals because get stressed, get fed too much, ticks come out, and some even get bitten by snakes.“ The Animal Referral Clinic operates at sites in Homebush and Baulkham Hills. Vacuna
Even worse is that on the news I was half watching/listening to it said the dogs was 8 weeks old (not sure if that is 100% correct) as there seems to be varing reports of eight months to three months depending on which news item you read. Initially wondered if she considered it an unwanted Xmas present. Made me wonder if the cute and cuddly stage was becoming less endearing now it was probably demanding more care and attention and making more work for her. Now I know why I am vetting my puppy buyers so stringently. Link to comment

Sue
This has just been on the TV news in NZ. The puppy was described as a Ridgeback x. Poor thing was looking very frightened and in pain on the vets table. What a sick thing to do to a defenceless animal. Lets hope she gets put away and desexed as well. If she would do that to a pet, more than likely she will have a poor attitude to any children. Link to comment
Ben and Jerry
This little fella is one tough bugger. When they showed him last night he was on the vets table shaking. Tonight when they showed him he was all tail wags. I hope he has a speedy recovery and finds his forever home. Luckily for this pup there were neighbours who heard his cries and rushed him to the vets . As for the lady who did this, I heard something about two years jail, I hope that is true so people start to understand that this kind of cruelty is not exceptable. Link to comment

I just saw him on the tele now. He is so adorable. Despite his legs being bandaged/plastered he was still there wagging away. He looks so much happier than what he did in those first pics. Dog knows what that poor little guy went through prior to being thrown from that window. She is in court at the moment at Parramatta. she doesn't get out on bail and they keep her in custody. I hope she does get the 2 yrs (+ preferably) and I hope she gets a lifetime of bad karma. Link to comment

The report I saw on TV said she was known to be an abuser of alcohol so I'm sure Karma will come back in someway. ETA spelling Edited January 1, 2012 by Ben and Jerry Link to comment
k9angel
She has got bail. http://au.news.yahoo.com/a/-/latest/12468897/bail-for-accused-nsw-puppy-thrower/ A Sydney woman accused of throwing her puppy out of a window onto a cement driveway 15 metres below has been granted bail. Lily Maihi, 24, of Kingswood is charged with torturing, beating or seriously injuring an animal after allegedly throwing the eight-month-old puppy out of her window following a heated argument with her partner. She appeared in Parramatta Local Court on Thursday via video link where her lawyer successfully applied for bail, although the Crown opposed it. The police prosecutor described the facts as very disturbing and said there had been a level of premeditation, in that Maihi's argument with her partner was about dog faeces on the balcony. The prosecutor said the puppy was unable to move when it hit the ground and required surgery for his injuries. Her lawyer said the fact that the victim of the crime was a puppy had aroused "perhaps in all of us, certain emotional responses". In granting bail, Magistrate Andrew George said there was no question that this was a particularly unpleasant case. "The community would be horrified by the allegations that have been made," he said. But he stressed that this was a bail application, which is not considered on the basis of how horrible an offence might be, and regardless of how many pictures of "doey-eyed puppies" were presented to the court. He ordered Maihi to report daily to police, to reside at her Kingswood flat and not to attempt to own any animal. He adjourned the case to Penrith Local Court on January 18 Link to comment
Peace_Of_Mind
I just cannot comprehend how someone could do this to a helpless little puppy. I'd like to throw her out of a freaking window. I hope there is justice for this puppy and she gets what she deserves. Link to comment
LizT
Apparently she has been granted bail and is to report to police daily. She is banned from owning any animals in the future. The magistrate noted the community would be horrified by the allegations. "I suppose it is inevitable the community would expect that somebody who did this would go to prison for a lengthy period of time" he said. But the complexities of sentencing laws meant this wouldn't necessarily be the case. The prospect of her committing again is remote. "There are far more significant cases of animal cruelty which don't get attention in the press" he noted. Ain't that the truth!! Link to comment
Peace_Of_Mind
The judge also said: "Bail is not given on the basis of how horrible the offence might be, no matter how many pictures of doe-eyed puppies are presented to me," What is going to take for the courts to dish out stiff penalties to cases of cruelty to animals? Who knows. It makes me so mad. These days a dog only has to look at someone the wrong way and they lose their life, yet people can do whatever they want to dogs and get away with it. Where's the fairness in that? We are all living beings. Link to comment

Alyosha
The judiciary can only work with what they have. The Bail Act in this case. And, despite how the Magistrate and community feels about the offence, if the defendant meets certain criteria, they are eligible for bail. Even murderers. Link to comment
korbin13
Update on Will. Looks very RR cross to me! In the video the vet says that it was probably the best thing that happened to him, sadly I would have to agree. IT looks like a case of true puppy love - of the motherly kind, at least. Will the pup, who was allegedly thrown out a bedroom window on to a concrete driveway by his former owner, made friends with Bonnie the dachshund as he recovered from his injuries, The Daily Telegraph reported. The four-month-old playful puppy was happy to trail Bonnie - who is aged about 12 - around at Homebush's Animal Referral Hospital. With a cast on his right elbow after surgery, Will proved no match for the speedy Bonnie and her wheels, but he tried not to let his injury slow him down. Wheelchair-bound Bonnie belongs to the hospital's veterinary surgeon Sarah Goldsmid and is a regular at the clinic. Dr Goldsmid said Will was having fun running around but they had to limit his movements to prevent further damage. "I think he's pretty friendly to most people and animals and Bonnie's used to having other dogs around. They got on OK," Dr Goldsmid said. "He's running around and we're trying to stop him from doing too much. "He's getting around really well on his 3½ legs." http://www.news.com.au/national/will-the-puppys-new-girlfriend-is-a-beauty-named-bonnie/story-e6frfkvr-1226233668151#ixzz1i3owNuZO Link to comment
