canine fun sports
Just wanted to share Dyzney's first Agility run in around 6 years, Excellent Jumping. Unfortunately, as you will see in the video she knocked the last bar, but it was clearly entirely my fault, mucked that section of handling up good and proper, not pretty  But we had fun, she pulled up fine and I didn't get lost. She is such a sweetheart, and at almost 9 years old did a brilliant job I think :D And though she is not fast, we were inside time by a good 5 seconds, so there is hope. Welcome back to the sport of agility. What a great run (we will ignore the last two jumps!) Just rmember, from one large dog handler to another, that we have to give our long striding dogs more warning that they have to change their leading legs, or they will not make the turns smoothly, especially when the judges don't give us a lot of room to turn! I really enjoyed seeing your big dog run. Cheers,

I didn't do what I walked many times... but at the same time, I was not surprised that I didn't either  I had a feeling I was gunna stuff up. Never mind. More practise :D Now I know how slow she is, particularly towards the end, I now see I could have actually donw that last bar still from her right. Dyz would have popped out no worries.. and she still is not great with rear crosses (nor am I). We will get there. It is only one pass we want with her, so I am happy to nurse her through with whatever it takes to get that pass and practise more correct handling with my new upcoming girl. :)
kelpiechick
Hi KC. Thank you. Can't wait to catch up with you guys. We will be at at least one of the bairnsdale trial days (not decided as yet) and also have entered East Gippsland with both Dyz and young Fame. Are you doing any of these? Not doing Bairnsdale - good luck to you, this weekend isn't it ? I might take a leisurely drive down to Sale in the afternoon so I don't have to get up at stupid o'clock and just do a couple of jumping runs. Agility is out for me with the BC at the moment as some dumb bunny decided to retrain her A Frame contact right at the beginning of trialling season .... oops, that'd be me

Never mind, we will catch up another time. Will let you know if we get that pass we need :D Bugger about that A frame contact, can be so frustrating. Starkehre
Just another update to let you all know that our sweetheart Dyzney, at just 2 weeks of her 9th birthday, achieved her 5th Excellent Jumping pass yesterday at Altona to qualify for her JDX Title. I was over the moon and even had a few tears. Oddly enough, our title run was our messiest and slowest one on the day, but we got through and were awarded 3rd place also. A huge thank you to Geraldine for all her instruction and support. Thank you to Jenni for taking some awesome photos Dyzney now has 13 ANKC recognised titles to her name Here is our qually run

Starkehre
Thanks guys. You are right, the run doesn't look too bad... I just know she left the start prematurely, so threw out my game plan, then she knocked the tyre hard, so that concerned me a bit in the beginning. I had not turned to see if there was any carnage. :D Yes, bless our darling Dyz. She is an absolute sweetheart. :)
RubyStar
Dyzney now has 13 ANKC recognised titles to her name That is great, congrats! Nice run, too :) So what does her extensive list of awesomeness include? :D
Starkehre
Hi RubyStar, thank you. Dyzneys' titles include Aust Ch, Neut Champ, CCD, CD, AD, ADX, JD, JDX, SPD, HT, PT, HSAs, and ET. She is also a Multi V Rated specialty bitch and has had one litter of lovely puppies. Her awesomeness is just being herself. Dyz is just the most sweetest, gentlest of Rottis. She understands sentences and is so wonderful to live with. She has spunk and charisma, but is so impeccably well behaved... you know, all that stuff that older dogs are. I am proud to have her in public, she is an excellent advocate of the breed. She is great with kids, all animals and all people. She is what you would call bomb proof. And above all, her awesomeness includes fighting and beating the worst case of IMT that all her specialists had seen. Dyzney so nearly died 3 years ago, that we are just so lucky to still have her with us. And I am grateful for this every day and I think this is why everything she does blows me away. When I lay on the floor of ICU with her at Frankston AEC and Hallam AEC twice daily for hrs at a time for days and days, I promised Dyzney that if she pulled through, she would not have to do anymore training, showing or trialling. Considering how ill she was, it seemed like a miracle that she did survive. She survived the IMT to almost go down with stomach ulcers from all the medication. Almost a whole year after she fell ill, I brought her back into work. I felt guilty going back on my promise, but did it because I realised how wrong I was making the promise. Dyzney was well again and was craving work. She was a little depressed and needed to sink her teeth into something again. So, since recovery late 2009, Dyzney gained 7 of those titles and she is still working. To say I am proud of our girl is an understatement. Yes, the titles are nice, great in fact, but not what it is all about to me. What I love most is seeing that smile on her face and sparkle in her eye when she is out doing an agility course, or working sheep, strutting her stuff in the Neuter Class or swimming or playing with our other dogs. Every day, every cuddle, every laugh I share with Dyzney means the world to me. :) ... but we all feel this way about our dogs, don't we!! :)
