I had to transport a cormorant to a carer yesterday,

the cormorant died unfortunatly,

but i got this footage of these young Tawnies doing their thing.

I love these birds so I hope you like this vid.

Chicks

They have been raised from chicks and the release date is coming up fast.

Hope they will be ok.

They are pretty tough little birds, I love them.

My dad had a family every year in his big trees in the back yard. That was 5 minutes from Crown street in Wollongong.

I had a pair who raised at least two babies every year in my barn.

They came out at the same time every night, you could set you clock by them.

I nursed one back to health after it got its wing caught up in a barbed-wire fence, back when I was a youngster. Took a chunk out of its wing - made a complete hole in it. Vet didn't believe it would ever fly again. Long story short, it recovered and flew when we released it. Beautiful birds and so fascinating to interact with and watch. I love how they balance on their pointy bottoms when Mum shares the nest (only just) with babes almost grown enough to take flight.

Lovely vid. Thanks for posting.

Tawnies are great. All that hissing reminds me of a long-forgotten event. On our bush walk, one of my Labs brought a chick to me (unharmed). Apparently, crows got to the nest. CALM had big fines for keeping wildlife and I ended out turning it over to someone with permits for wildlife rescue. Wish I could have kept track of the little guy.
