caraboose
Morning Everyone :-) Sorry i didn't get on last night, it as a bit of a rush getting home, introducing Buster to our boys, getting my girls to bed then i realised in all the days excitement i'd forgotten to organise dinner for my hubbie and i lol the dogs had bones etc but we had nothing so going to the shops cooking etc and i didn't get to take photo's until this morning. Well he is such a big sook, he just wants to be cuddled and loved. He had no worries settling in with our dogs. Boss thinks all his christmas's have come at once because hes got a play mate. Bailey (very confusing with all the 'B' names lol) is a small terrier x shitzu type dog at at 9.5yrs old so isn't as playful as Buster is. He's a bit grumpy to so he got to sleep in our room last night while Buster and Boss got to snuggle in the laundry :-) So after introducing himself to Boss Buster found himself a bone and lay down to chew happily meanwhile Boss bounded around him trying to encourage him to play. They've had alot of fun together. My brother in law is coming around lunch time today then he'll have his 4hr car trip home :-) Here are some photo's of him and Boss (it was hard to get any good ones, he was constantly moving) please excuse the grass i need to mow the lawn. BC Crazy
Thanks so much for the update on Buster. Looks just how I pictuted in my thoughts. I think he would be pinching himself just to make sure he isn't dreaming. All this attention, cuddles & new playmates, just wonderful. Now off to his new forever home. So a lovely ending to a story about a dog & the generious hearts of those people kind enough to care. Merry Christmas everyone. caraboose
Yeah he's such a lovely boy, he just joined in with Boss's morning training i really don't think he needs much work, just consistency. He Easily Sat for a treat, he doesn't drop on command yet but would follow the treat in my hand into drop easily, didn't have to use a 2nd hand to push his shoulder down he just followed the treat down. Double Lab Love
Oh Caraboose - I just saw your pictures and I am just so so happy to see him looking so well... To see him runnng around your yard when I know how miserable he was living next door to us - it just makes my heart sing... When you think what the outcome could have been for today You guys are just the best One of my nice neighbours (who has been so supportive all week) and her family and OH and myself had a Buster emancipation party last night Buster and your family was toasted many many times !!!! caraboose
its horrible to think what could have happened to him today :-( and that it is no doubt happening to some poor doggy somewhere around australia, so so sad. but we're very happy we could save Buster with the help of the lovely ladies at pound rounds and Alex is happy that he gets a new best friend. Hes very excited about meeting him this arvo//evening :-)

pepe001
I was lying in bed thinking about Buster last night and had an angry thought. The owners (if they get told he is with a new owner etc) will think - we did the right thing by dumping him at the pound just before Xmas - and probably pat themselves on the back for doing what was best for Buster. They shouldn't think this but should remain guilty that they failed as dog owners and don't deserve another dog ever. Merry Xmas Buster.

Pepe001 We were actually having this discussion last night and OH and I have decided not to tell them anything. We actually have to see them tonight however after thinking it through I came to the same conclusion as yourself. If they think dumping him at the pound would lead to this then what is to stop them doing it again or telling other people - oh it's OK bc someone will find him a home They knew it wasn't going to end well bc they lied and told everyone they took him to the RSPCA not the pound. If I am forced to speak to them tonite i will make the comment that so many dogs that are surrendered are PTS esp this time of year. I think the doggy Gods were looking after Buster and these people don't need to know that he has found the perfect forever home.... they don't deserve to know after the way they treated him. I say let them feel like crap...
Mags
Glad to see him looking so settled and happy - he must be a lovely dog. So glad for your FIL what a wonderful Christmas these guys are going to have together. Nothing better than a wonderful ACD companion (bit biased after having ACDs for 25yrs)
melzawelza
A really nice ending. Seems like a nice dog who with a little bit of work will be a wonderful companion.
juice
He certinly is a handsome boy, and so is your boy, well done for caring I would be really blunt when i see them and tell them you rang the pound and they said he would be pts by friday, leave it at that, the pound will be closed so they can't check to see if he made it out alive, ( not that they would bother). I have had 2 neighbours turn up at my door with their dogs they no longer wanted, as if i could take away their problem and wash their hands of them( both purebreds) Both dogs found homes thanks to my friends at "paws" :D
caraboose
Paganman - yes he was very wobbly esp on his back legs when i picked him up and pretty scared :-( i wanted to take him for a little stroll before i put him in the car because he prob hadn't had one in a couple of days and to 'empty' his bladder etc before we started on the 2hrs drive back home but his legs just weren't up to it. i crouched down and patted my legs to encourage him to come for a cuddle and he came with his head bowed down then as i lifted my hand to pat his head he cowered down to the ground like he was expecting me to backhand him. I wondered if maybe his last owners had hit him. However after the ride home receiving constant pats from the girls and them saying "ohhhhhh Buster your a good boy" (LOL) he seemed to just have trust in us and hasn't reacted the same way since. I think meeting Boss and Bailey and getting some water and food helped him a bit to. He didn't run much last night mainly chewed on bones but i was surprised at how he came out of the laundry this morning, prancing about head held high full of energy. Like he didn't even have surgery yesterday. Yeah i wouldn't be telling his owners he has been saved because they will no doubt always blame Buster for his "bad" behaviour rather than realizing it was their fault for not researching the breed before purchasing and then not bothering to train/spend time with him. You know what they prob will get another dog one day, hopefully they won't get a ACD again, hopefully they'll get one more suited to their lifestyle. Couldn't disagree more - my kittens are handled from the moment they are born, are well socialised and receive training so they make good companions - and when they get to their forever home (and they don't leave here till they are around 16 weeks old) that training needs to be continued if you want a friendly, well behaved companion. All pets regardless of species take commitment and time and if you don't have it don't bother getting any pet. Edited to add: Apologises for going off topic hope your FIL and his new mate have a terrific first Christmas.
