sparkycat
Keely my wolfie x BC had a large lump removed from under her front armpit last week. I had put a teeshirt on her but last night she managed to pull open the wound, so she had to get it restitched today. She now has a vet bucket on but is not at all happy I think it scares her. She is fear aggressive at the best of times. So any other ideas on how to stop her getting at the stitches ?
Jumabaar
Not sure if the product down the bottom of this page would be any better- http://www.callicoma.com.au/accessories1.htm Another option is to give her other things to think about- I put little bits of sticky tape on my boy when he was continually licking his paw. Jumabaar
Another thought would be a basket muzzle. Not a soft one as basket ones are less restrictive and still allows them to drink.
persephone
..yep, a soft plastic basket muzzle .. not the cheaper ones though! they are hard and narrow. Ones made in Italy are much better quality and comfort...they have a leather strap, too with a buckle.... not a webbing/synthetic strap
~Anne~
There are antiseptic products that you can buy to deter licking that you spray on the wound. To be honest though, the Elizabethan collar is probably the most effective.
sparkycat
She has settled down a bit now but she managed to pull the bucket off a couple of times- thats the problem with having a neck bigger than a head
smooch
I put one of these basket muzzels on Smooch every night as he has OCD licking a spot on his back leg when I am asleep and cant see him. http://farmerswarehouse.com.au/product.php?productid=22552&cat=606&page=
sandgrubber
Kong is making a neck wrap thing called a Cloud Collar that works as an alternative to the Elizabethan collar. They look good . . . haven't used one. http://www.jefferspet.com/kong-cloud-collar/p/0030286/ There are a couple other new alternatives that work on the same principal, eg. http://www.jefferspet.com/bite-not-collars/p/0028630/
wuffles
I have used Woundguard spray before but my girl hated that more than anything in the world, a bucket is better
