Luke W
I've created a document on my desktop called "Barkly Mega Training Plan". I keep adding to it and it basically consists of retraining just about everything! Here's a snippet: RALLYO AND OBEDIENCE Take it for treats to avoid crowding, lifting of front legs, etc. Left Pivot Right Pivot Heel/Sit/Stand/Down in mud AGILITY WARM UP Put "shake" on cue GENERAL Ring Entry/Start line position/Taking Lead off/Running stay/Start Line Lead-out Stays/Start Line burst of Speed Take it for treats to avoid crowding, lifting of front legs, etc. Lateral Cue (for turns less than 180 - usually 90) Post Turn (pull cue) Contacts Rear cross Faster weaves, better entry Speed Left and Right Cues (CleanRun October and November 2010) Plus: Read CleanRun - From October 2010 to present! smisch
Den •JDM Title (5 qs remaining) •ADO Title (3 Qs remaining) •Gain some legs towards his ADM and JDO Title •Enter an ADAA Trial •Start Sheep herding and Hopefully gain his HIC •Looking more in canine Freestyle •Do More obedience work •Reintorduce our SLS and make it fun •KEEP IT FUN and HAPPY Well we achieved some of those titles last year and achieves a few extra ones along the way :) so its 2012 lets see how we go! Denver JDM TITLE - 1 Q to go!!! JDO Title - 3 Qs to go :) ADM Q!!! - we are struggling to make the courses it would be a miracle to make a Q for us continue to have fun, push it to achieve what I know we can but keep it fun attend obedience lessons so we may be able to do trialling eventually.. doubtful lol Dens just TOO happy and nervy and bouncy all at once LOL Ella Become trial ready and enter a trial enjoy agility have fun :) we are making such progress and I wanna see that continue Me [*]get myself handling better then last year, something has clicked in with me and Den and Im happy with my handling but I would like it to step up a bit more [*] get James trained so he can run Den or even his own dog (Ella) in a comp lmao wishful thinking, I need to gain patience for this [*] STOP BABYING DEN IN THE RING!!! my one downfall I play it safe with him so much and I know he can give me better.. I let him down Well thats it for me! lets see how we go :) Well we can cross Den off the list completely as he has retired and gone back to mums I miss him but he's having a great time from what I hear running round with their pup on endless space. Ella well I achieved both goals we entered a trial and the nationals and better yet got our first q!! So to revise the Ella goals and add amber in Ella *to continue agility and making progress in connecting our obsticles together confidently * WEAVES - fix them lol we kinda have them kinda don't but we're getting there * START LINE STAY - get one cos we don't have one and it's what lets us down cos someone is too quick for me lol!! Hi Emm, I have a spare bike you can borrow, you know that  & we can teach you to ride a bike :D that is cool that you are starting to stress Less :D
whitka
I was still thinking about if I really wanted to put anything here but hay why not :D For me it will really depend on where I am next year so thats how ill play it for now. If im still in Sale then ill be stealing mum's dog  First just work our way up through obedience classes and hopefully start foundation agility training. Little Noah has so much toy drive so it should be fun seeing how he goes :) If I dont end up staying in Sale then its trying to convicne OH to let me get a puppy  I might even try try some tracking with Toby depending on where we are. Thats it I think, really looking forward to next year :) Looks like I'll be scratching all my goals instead just looking for a house where I can have Toby with me and then working on oh to get a puppy lol
The Spotted Devil
I think 2012 is going to be a very busy year with the Agility Nationals in June, Dalmatian Nationals in November and a debut for Em in retrieving, obedience and agility Ziggy & Me Concentrate on fitness - strength, speed and endurance.....tugging, begging, rear end awareness, sprint work and running with the bike. Obedience - pretty much the same as last year - duration heeling, fast drops for DOR, tighten up dumbbell work ready for Open obedience Agility - will be concentrating on independent contacts (keep the criteria tight!!!!) and weaving, learn to trust my dog , stop looking at the jump I DON'T want him to take, learn to run in a straight line for serps  , speed and tight turns for a big striding dog will be the main aim of the game! ET - Dally Club trial if the stars align! Em & Me Try and keep up with her <img src='http://www.dolforums.com.au/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> Obedience - a little more self control needed in the recall and stand for exam (no points for mugging judges for cuddles!) Continue to tighten up the flip finish. Happy with the retrieve although it does require a lot of concentration for her to deliver it calmly  I would like to skip CCD and get her Novice title in 2012. Agility - have her ready for Novice Jumping, Novice Agility and perhaps even Open in time for the Nationals. Too much to work on to list individually but she will be quick and keen so it will be a case of me keeping up with her! Retrieving - not too many goals here other than to enter Novice Retrieving trials - I think she is ready but I'm happy to stay in Novice for a little while and gain some experience for both of us. I really won't know where she's at and what we need to work on until we enter a few trials. In terms of training, we will continue on as we have done and train towards Restricted. Need to shoot over her before January so we can enter the Gundog trial! It's great to look back on the training goals I set - feels like years ago  Zig & Me What a whirlwind 6 months. I could not ask for any more from my Spotted Devil in terms of agility - his weaves, contacts and responsiveness have gone through the roof! I think my handling has also improved. Completed his JDO title and stunned me by wining ADO at a recent trial. Topped it all off with consistently fantastic runs at the Agility Nationals including an ADO qually that I'd like to bottle plus JDM and ADM quallies. His attitude throughout our trip was also great, tugged to and from every ring and remained focused, even after flirting with every bitch in sight particularly the Spotted ones All the fitness work we did really paid off, although we didn't get time to start running with the bike. Unfortunately the Dally Club ET clashed with our Nationals road trip. Now that the pressure is off agility, I'm going to put a heavier emphasis on obedience. Em & Me Everything started to click in a hurry with this little dog - from struggling through our first Novice retrieving trials to now having two 1st places, one 2nd and one 4th One win away from being bumped up into Restricted so I need to get my act together. She really loves it and we are both enjoying the journey. I really need to concentrate on walk up retrieves, double rise, two bird, steadiness in the hide and continue to work towards cold blinds. Not too much water work over the next month as it's just freezing - she doesn't seem to care though! Em has started in agility/jumping, had a win in JD at her first trial and picked up her Novice Jumping title at the Agility Nationals with two passes to spare. A 2nd place in Canberra, a 3rd and 4th in the Nationals heats and 2nd in the finals. To see her dragging me into the ring after struggling with the busy environment all week made my heart sing :) I'm still doing bits and pieces of obedience but not working towards any trialling goals as there is only so much you can do at one time. Heading overseas for at least 6 weeks at the end of July so will squish in as much fun with the dogs as possible before I go - I expect to get serious training withdrawal
Seita
Well I have no idea really, I may not even make it into the ring next year LOL For Ella: - hopefully a litter of lovely promising pups for me to pick one out of - hopefully some trials towards the end of the year in both Open and UD with consistently good scores - continue improving in her agility training who knows we may even see the inside of an agility ring? - health and happiness in all I ask her to do! - I would love a 200 or two (or three or lots) but that will depend on whether we actually make it to any trials which depends on when and how the litter goes! - Well we can check the first one off the list, she had a super litter and I've kept a very promising girl and 3 others are also in performance homes! - Yes we are back in the ring, we had our first trial last weekend and her heelwork was sensational but I got nervous for the first time in forever and threw her off for the rest of her work. So add a new goal - fix my nerves LOL. Next trials this weekend! - Agility is progressing steadily, I am feeling more confident about trialling her at some stage. Probably looking at early next year...
spoilt lab lives here
Ramses- Novice title! Endrance Test successfully completed. Thats it for next year. He will be 6 in December so Im playing it by ear and seeing how he progressess throughout the year. Will be stoked to get our CD title and have every confidence we can do it! So we have 5 weeks until the ET. Have upped the training and are on track. Obedience wise we havent done anything this year so far, may look into it later in the year but its a full on packed year so far I havent had the drive for it like I did last year. Inevitablue
How is everyone going with their goals? Its almost September.....wow, hasn't this year gone fast Tess Aust Champion conformation title (we got some points in 2011) Half way there! 3/4 of the way there now - with a runner up in Group along the way from a full line up :D HSAs (or at least 1 pass towards it) First trial this weekend, very confident she will get this title this year. Introduced Intermediate work now.YAY, Tess got her HSAs title a few weeks ago Start cattle work in prep for HSAc Cows are there but its finding the time Toying with the idea of heading to Victoria for some cattle trials CCD Tick, did that in February CD Just need to enter some trials...first 2 on list are so time consuming! Not yet..but have entered a Rally trial For the 2nd half of the year when she turns 18 months and can compete AD 18 months old last week, just need to perfect the weavers. entered! in games and snooker as well JD Entered and hopeful couldnt make that trial, but entered at Festival of Agility Start serious tracking work, if I can fit it in around herding Ha! no time still no time Zac (he is 4 months old now...lol) HT Very excited about this dog, doing his HIC this weekend, HT by end of August My little superstar, got his HIC and HT in one trial Maybe PT Maybe, he learns so fast and has so much drive for the task. I wont be surprised at all OMG, he finished off his PT on the weekend Be ready for CCD I will trial him by the end of the year. Entered in the Spring Fair Rally trial- not really CCD though I might add Aust Champion conformation title - he got over 30 points in his first 3 weeks, then has had an injury. He will be back in August,so if he picks up where he left off.... one point behind his big sis - 3/4 of the way there :D Bring on 2012! I had a quick go at Rally O and that was fun. If I can schedule it in Tess and I will enter.
Sayreovi
Nova: Actually do a tracking trial!! Do more shows for his neuter title, there aren't enough shows for his title next year! Haven't gotten around to a tracking trial but he is only about 30 points from his neuter title, won't get that till next year due to extremely limited local shows offering it! Darcy: ADX JDX FM CD None of these are likely this year He got another pass in agility but that was it, and only has 250 points of the 400 point flyball master title. Next year :p Jovi: ADX JDX AFCH CD CH If we have time do a little bit of retrieving training Again none of these but working towards most :D Agility - debuted recently and has 2 JD passes so far after two trials :) Should get them, as all her other runs have all been one fault (by handler! ) Flyball - Surpassed all my expectations and is a National champ :D, has had 4 comps and was first place in all, pretty sure she has her AFCH now. Missing one comps points and only needed about 30 to get it so should be OK. If not still extremely happy with that and will get by the end of the year! Obedience - Had a couple of trials but need to work on her heeling in trial conditions, full marks in everything else though. Showing - 10 points off her championship, need to enter a couple of shows to get them, will have by the end of the year. Retrieving - Did a RATG, bit too hard for her given she hasn't been trained to a very difficult level yet. Will focus on it more next year as showing and flyball become less of a priority. Me: Stop procrastinating and do some trialling! Don't be so nervous Did pretty well for me, I entered a fair few things :) Was pretty good trialling Jovi and Darcy in everything bar obedience......obedience trials freak me out and I don't know why! Weasels
Oh I forgot about this thread :) Thanks for bumping! I'd be happy if both the dogs got their HSAs and HSAd titles (both have their PT) I'm considering trying out Fox for a JD too :) I'd never really considered trialling in agility before but she just loves it so much! Well the trialling season is over for us, and both dogs got their Started Sheep titles Chess got a nice collection of High in Trial rosettes across the year but unfortunately finished one pass short of her Started Duck title. Weez got his Started Duck title but fewer rosettes, so we'll call it a draw I think  OH and I are going to swap dogs on sheep now so I'll get to handle the lovely biddable Chess and he can have the frustrating headstrong Weasel! i'm looking forward to it :D Unfortunately our agility club folded early in the year, so any agility plans are on hold, but we'll be moving house soon so hopefully we can find a club near our new house :) I hope everyone is having lots of fun & succes with their dogs! Well done on your PT and HSAs both! very exciting :D The ducks can be a bit worrying but not just from the dogs - I've almost tripped over them a couple of times! Guest Panzer Attack!
We are officially bowing out of this thread now my ex is permanently keeping T (not my choice) and Scooter has been attacked twice at obedience and popped his patella yesterday. So he now won't work for obedience, there's no point neuter showing him and his knee is too bad to pursue agility Bye bye hopes and dreams kfdnncyknfs Edited October 10, 2012 by Panzer Attack! Sayreovi
Sorry to hear that PA!! What about Rally-O? It's more relaxed and you could get rid of the old commands association with obedience (and scary events)
dogmate
Not sure if i orginally put my wishlist on but i am totally stoked with my girls this year. One has earnt her JD, NE, RN my daughter and her dog have earnt a NE,RN, 1 AD pass 1 SD pass, 30 show points, my other girl had a freadful start to 2012 losing her leg but has lown me away and earnt her RN and has been in 2 jumping trials the last one she went clear and was .03 over course time if only i hadnt cut her nails the night before she might have managed a pass. My husband and his dogs one earnt her JD and 2 passes in AD and 2 passes in JDX, his other dog earnt her JDX title and needs one more pass for her ADX title she managed to get into the finals in agility at the nationals hige surprise. Not a bad comeback as my husband and i stopped trialling for nearly 9 years to have our children who are now 12 yrs and 9 yrs. managed to have one adiicted to dog sports but our son is more into motorbikes. Now we are about to mate our daughters bitch for the first time ever we will hopeflly hear the patter of tiny paws in december and our next little pup. On a sad note we did loose one of our oldies this year and one of my husbands girls has turned 11 this year still trialling but as thye get older you start to remember that time is limited then my girl lost a leg i thought it had been a bad doogy year till i popped into this post and realised what we achieved when i started writing so thanks guys
Tassie
That's a pretty great family brag, dogmate - and spread across a number of disciplines - that's always special. It is sad as they get older, isn't it - my agility BC will be 11 in February, so I'm treasuring all our trialling time - and have to forgive her when she's still feral :) . Guest Panzer Attack!
They do, SnT! It's just a case of fixing it ($$$), resting him and then hoping the other doesn't go, then the op being successful etc etc. Lots of ifs and buts! I'm green as, so don't really know the risks and everything else...
ness
Sorry to hear that PA. I am in the unfortunate position of having to retire my youngster as well. We just can't get ahead on her lameness issues. Very sad indeed .
megan_
Pa - maybe look at it as taking a break? We have been very stop-start because Fergus hurt his back late last year and again this year (don't think it ever healed properly). We have the physio's and vet's okay to do agility but I'm taking it very slowly. It is hard when they love it so much and you put so much work in. Remember that some of the best OB competitors don't train at clubs either - they use clubs for distraction and teach their dogs with very small training session, with lots of motivation etc. I've decided to teach Fergs more OB in case we ever have to give up agility and I'm doing this by going to a once-a-month advanced skills club (where they train in drive etc) and going to seminars by real experts (eg Uta Bindel in November). The rest of our training will be at home or at a park with distractions.
