Previous heats were normal & 4 to 6 monthly in sync with the other 2 girls, as is often the way. This time she came in 10 days later, swelled somewhat but not the usual, flagged a tiny bit & the boys only showed any interest for a day, then she went off. My question is Is she likely to have a full on season soon again or will this be it for another 4 to 6 months ? Fordogs Posted November 27, 2011 Share Posted November 27, 2011 My Bella had very normal seasons until she had a litter at 2 & 1/2 since they she has been all over the place 7 months 9 months and her season have been very strange. She starts very slow spots for a day or so, has some bleeding and stops and that goes on for 3 or 4 weeks until she has what seems to be a normal season. I have done progesterone testing on each of her last 3 seasons resulting in (1) First stud she was taken to every second day 4 times without the dog mating her once on the 4th occasion I did another prog and she was 65, first visit to the stud she was days after 15, so progesterone rose very quickly. (2)Used a different stud and she had a very good mating 2 days after a prog reading of 10. Resulting in no puppies. (3)Last time she was mated 2 days after prog was 16 and had a second mating 2 days later and again no puppies. She is coming into season again now, I will try again and cross fingers she will finally have some puppies but I am not going to get too excited. Counting from the first day I have seen blood > that is counting the intermittent spotting to the end of her season can be approx. 60 days. I am pulling ma hair out. Apparently they do not release an egg in the first "false season" but the ovulation takes place on the second period of the season. That is why mating during the first phase does not produce puppies. Apparently they do not release an egg in the first "false season" but the ovulation takes place on the second period of the season. That is why mating during the first phase does not produce puppies. This is what my girl did on her last season. It was her second season, her first season was text book. She is due in again in either Dec or Jan (last season started in June and then again in July). Hopefully she will have a proper season in January as I would really love for her to have her first Litter...will be watching her from now on until she comes in ! Often, a low grade infection is found. I only just recently found out about split seasons too, because I'm pretty sure it's what Dani had about a week or two ago. Both my girls came into season at the same time (as they usually seem to do). But Dani's seemed to only last about 7 days, and then just disappeared. She had the vulva swelling, bleeding, and our boy was interested, but it stopped before it actually got to the point of breeding, whereas our other girl's cycle proceeded as normal. I had my 'periods' every 3 months during my younger years and my Gyn/ob said I would need fertility pills to concieve. The morning I went into see him for a check up and to begin the treatment I told him I couldn't start on the fertility pills. "Why not?" asked the Gratten Street Specialist. "Because I'm pregnant".
