*Avanti*
It all seems to happen at once. My dog has an infected molar and my car permanently died today with a major mechanical issue. In a few weeks I am getting a new car but not until then. In the meantime one of my Labradors is booked in for a tooth extraction on Friday. Because the tooth seems infected I do not want to delay teatment but I am now wondering how to get her to the vets. I rang one number the vet gave me and he wanted $60 each way. When I started to say I thought that was a bit much he hung up the phone on me which I thought was rude as well as unnecessary. Anyway apparently some taxi drivers will take pets and some will not but as we have an appointment time that she must come in I ask fellow Melbourne people if they can recommend someone. I am in Preston and the vet is about 2-3km away in Coburg, a suburb next to mine. Edited November 23, 2011 by LabTested
trojka
A quick google search brought up these two: http://www.petcabs.com.au/ http://www.melbourne-petminders.com.au/pet-taxi.htm Not sure if one of them is the one you've already tried. I know where Preston and Coburg are, and $60 does seem like a lot, although I would expect it to be more expensive than a regular taxi. Sorry, unfortunately I haven't tried any of them personally as I no longer live in Melbourne, but I wish there was something similar up here. Have you tried calling any of the regular taxi companies and asking if they have any drivers that will take dogs? If so, you could pre-book that one for a specific time. Thanks for your reply trojka. $60 did seem a bit much given the journey is no more than 3kms. Edited November 23, 2011 by LabTested
Staff'n'Toller
You could hire a car out for cheaper and vac it very, very well before you return it. :p Try your Vet Clinic, us lowly paid Vet Nurses can be bribed with cash in hand for pick ups and drop offs....just sayin'. I am just around the corner. Thank you IggyLover. As it turned out we had good luck getting a taxi. I did not know they would do it. It went without drama although the taxi driver said he as scared of dogs and I had to hold her head etc. Bella is so not aggressive but I figured I had to respect the taxi drivers fear and reassure him. It all went ok and Bella is recovering from the tooth extraction now. Edited November 28, 2011 by LabTested
