Such a weight off my shoulders Does your partner, flatmate, friend have a good relationship with your dog? For me I could never live with someone who doesn't love dogs, so I am very lucky. When I had to have Emma put to sleep she was the second person I let know (after my Mum), she was Em's second mum! She always looked after my fur-kids when I wasn't home and would take Emma to the beach and pretty much everywhere that she went when I was on holidays and the like. She's been overseas since last October and I keep trying to entice her to come back to Aus!! I love that they stepped in to help out with Kirah's lunch as I'd be at work and to supervise play time so Zeus didn't hurt her with his boisterousness. If I ever fall into the position of share renting, it would have to be with people who love dogs as much as I do. There'd be no compromise on that. Atanquin Posted November 13, 2011 Share Posted November 13, 2011 (edited) I'm the biggest animal but my bf isn't but since teaching him to ride he loves my horse and his silky clean coat ;) and since having zorro he has gone from a dogs outside only man to being the one allowing him on the cream leather sofa an the bed and he always makes sure he has his lunch and if I'm working nights he will walk zorro for me and when I go away he will also feed my horse ( just got to teach him how to put rugs on next). I'd come home from work one evening and the bitch had dyed my poor kitten pink. Was not impressed as the kitten ran away, so it was clearly not impressed either. I kicked out the 'friend' and I've never had housemates since (or pets for that matter!). Lucky enough the boyfriend loves animals (as much as he pretends he doesn't ) So I'll be able to trust him with the new puppy! .. It's taken a while to get him up to speed on the feeding and routine but he's there now and I can go away for a weekendand he can keep the race dogs fed and fit and the rest of the team all in one piece. Sasha gets soo excited when she sees her and my kitty headbutts her ( which is unusual for my kitty to do to anyone but me) My housemate looked after my pets when I had to go away and is fabulous with them. He's even semi-trained a couple of tricks which he's very proud of. He's currently puppy-sitting while I"m at a friends place overnight studying for exams. My other housemate wasn't keen on the dogs, but told me one day (about 3 months after moving in) "Flick, I want to hate your dogs but I don't" which I thought was a pretty good start! Feeds him when I'm not home and will take him for a walk or a run if he's racing round the house like a loon. He's not allowed upstairs, which is where her bedroom and bathroom are, but she has no problem with him having free run in all the living areas downstairs. Although I've never understood how people can't love dogs -- fair enough if there's been a bad experience, but to just not like them? And it's funny that he'd go for another CS; they don't really ooze the "mucho" status! But they are very cool dogs -- I love their topknots! What an absolute jerk of a housemate and a very pathetic "friend". It did scratch her, Thankfully. Her hands / arms were cut up, and my bath was stained pink so I assume she gave her a pink bath. I've never been one to yell, or start a fight with someone, but boy did I. Karma though, she ended up and a stripper a few years later, and from what I'm told still is It's so nice to hear all these lovely stories of caring housemates and partners. I started panicking and trying to work out how much Maggie had eaten, and he came out of his room and went "oh, Maggie has been eating your chocolate". UMMM, perhaps it would've been good to STOP her?? My boyfriend used to be scared of dogs, but he's a changed man now. Or he wouldn't be around still! I was up by 6:30am, took puppy out for some tracking training, came home fed her, told hubby to LET HER OUT FOR A PEE before her left for work, put her in the pen, took my older dog out for a walk and some training, came home, pup has peed in her pen because someone 'forgot' to take her out. Crate older dog, mop up pee, take miss energiser out for some more training and socialisation, detour to pick up sick kid from school... Finally, two tired dogs, sick kid on the couch and I get to eat breakfast at 10:30am :rolleyes: Now I may even get to sit down for an hour before it starts all over again!
