Good to know. Apologies for my 'guesstimate', I've only ever used saline pre-prepared and directly out the bottle :)

Maybe next time then leave the advice to people who have a better idea of what they are talking about ;)

I admit I know humans, but not animal wound care

apologies if i offended folks, i'll stick to humans ;)

i'm just glad noone lost a life (i'm still struggling to find any information that states too much salt is bad for a cut) ;)

Well, this wen`t a bit sour. I like Minimiss mention of "Dad Vodka on dog", i think maybe drink it. After all though the whole post ended up in confusion so leave it there. I`ll seek advice from an expert.

I agree. Have PM'd you ;)

well I certainly hope it wasn't about how to treat a dog's wound cause it's been shown you have no idea.

I have reported this post as an unprovoked attack Rebanne, how about you just put me on ignore and stop replying or stay out of my way please, that was uncalled for.

go for it, I am trying to prevent potential damage being done by someone following your advice, you admit you know nothing about treating animal wounds.

they you shouldn't be offering advice on matters that you know very little about then should you?

I'm only saying the above to diffuse a situation you keep trying to push on and on yet supply no links or facts to support your claim. You state i basically killed the dog yet in the thread about dog parks you yourself state "have hit or kicked at least 3 dogs that have come close enough" and not come to their owners call back. are you really worried about a bit of salt in a wound?

you really need to learn how to quote exactly what I said instead of putting your own slant on things. Half of the above is stuff you have made up in your own mind.

eta fixed a word up

Must say I would be a bit hesitant about using salty water in a dog's eyes - or mine for that matter. Second the paw-paw ointment though :)

professionally prepared saline in single use sachets are a great thing to have for quick wound cleaning!

I use that, then apply betadine a few times a day :)

Thank You, i started my post as follows>>"Do you think Savlon would be ok to apply on a puppy`s cut?", but then it escalated into something i don`t need. I came home from shopping to find many, many, many, notifications about this subject, most were absolutely useless to my original question. So, what i`ll do now is turn off the setting to be notified of replies to posts. In regard to the puppy cut, i`ll use a solution of salt and water.

so, now you have learnt what a nuisance those notifications are!

the WONDERFUL thing about this forum is that it is a discussion/conversation forum..where one topic/word/suggestion leads on to something else..and something else :)

Of course, being a discussion, and humans being the odd creatures they are - often there are disagreements and stuff .

If you only require yes/no answers, perhaps do a poll ..they are a good and easy way to get for/against results.

that way we can just tick a yes/no circle, and you can then just look at the bar result :)

Really most of it is useless. Anyway psychological advice won`t fix the problem.

OP means original poster and the posts might not have been valuable to you but might be of assistance to others. Lots of people might read this wanting to know the same thing: what is good to put on a minor cut on their dog.

Only one was helpful to me. Closing off now.

Exactly. Pretty curt responses from the OP I reckon.
