Boronia
http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/queensland/dogs-two-day-ordeal-in-wheelie-bin-20111111-1nb26.html A woman has been fined $4000 after throwing her neighbour's dog into a wheelie bin, where it remained for two days before it was found in a dehydrated and distressed state. Merlina Salko-Sarri, 50, pleaded guilty today to one charge of animal cruelty in Holland Park Magistrates Court after admitting to putting the dog, named Rufus, in a wheelie bin outside an abandoned house. The court was told the pet was used a pawn in a neighbourhood dispute over renovations made by the dog's owner. Advertisement: Story continues below Salko-Sarri had intended to dump the dog in bushland, but panicked and threw it in the black wheelie bin on Elberta Street in Macgregor on May 29 this year, the court heard. An 80-year-old woman, living next door to the abandoned house, heard Rufus's cries and found the poodle-cross wrapped in plastic inside the bin. She rescued the dog and alerted authorities. Magistrate Colin Strofield said any reasonable member of the community would regard Salko-Sarri's actions as reprehensible. He fined her $4000, but recorded no conviction because she would otherwise loose her job as a casino cashier.

minimiss
It's not like her job is brilliant anyway. Just a casino cashier. Poor dog. What a little soldier though, survived 2 days in a bin, wrapped in plastic. The stupid hag shoud be wrapped in plastic and dumped in a bin for 2 days to see how much she enjoys it. Her Majesty Dogmad
She needs a heart transplant so that perhaps she can develop some empathy for animals and how people feel when their pets go missing. Throw the book at her, it's lucky the little dog survived.
minimiss
Jail time sounds like a great option. If only the citizens could decide on the punishment. Would probably end with people getting the punishment they deserve!

Maxiewolf
People get convictions over Minor traffic offences why the hell should this cruel lifeless woman get off just because it might affect her job?? She might think about how putting another life out with the trash might affect her LIFE. And on top of that she should spend at least TWO DAYS in Jail so she can see what its like to be trapped somewhere she doesnt want to be.
