Gumnut
Its ok Gumnut, Better than whelping a stunning litter and having them die within 9 days I guess. Yes I guess it would be but still Sending you good luck vibes for next time :D
lappiemum
6 healthy babies born today. 3 boys and 3 girls. 2 choc and white boys, 1 black and white boy, 1 choc and white girl, 2 black and white girls. It was very quick and she had the first 4 in an hour. She is now resting with her little family. congrats!!! Might have to pull out guys, I HIGHLY doubt Ella is pregnant. With 11 days to go and no weight gain (even with increase meals), no size difference and no movement, I don't even think she has any hidden. Maybe next time. Sorry to hear that Risyntira - hopefully next time I was woken up at 4am by Sohvi the goodyear blimp nesting in the hallway - trying to scratch up the wood floors She's settled down today but its probably a good guess that she will go towards the end of the week, or on the weekend - will see! Can feel a fair bit of movement, so no wonder she is feeling rather uncomfortable, poor girl! Edited January 15, 2012 by lappiemum

Puppies do the meconium poo, not the bitch  Sorry Swayd just realised what I typed!!!! Think I might have just had meconium poo on my brain, I meant the afterbirth poo. I find that until she does her first or second poo after whelping she absolutely reeks.

But loving all the puppy pics in the meantime!
Tralee
Any news on any Maremma pups??? Tralee seems to have gone bellyup I tied to PM him and it would not send. Sorry guys. Sooki whelped on schedule. However, she was too ill to tend to her pups, 2m & 2f, with the last two particularly the last, showing horrendous signs of the parvo vaccine. For Sooki, this was a difficult last eight weeks following the vaccination, and she suffered its effects throughout. She has recovered and is a different dog now. For us, it was a bit of a roller coaster being taken from a belief we would have puppies, to having them taken from us. Then being told after X-ray there weren't any to begin with but expecting some after an ultrasound only to ultimately see what intervention can cause. On the up side, we found a world class reproduction vet in Casino, and although the experience gained was bitter it is invalauble. On a forum such as this, when people come seeking help, in whichever way it is requested, it must always be hard to know exactly what advice can be given. Then being told after X-ray there weren't any to begin with but expecting some after an ultrasound only to ultimately see what intervention can cause. My apologies if the reply was a bit cryptic. It is not something which I would wish anyone would have to go through particularly given the protracted and compounding events that lead up to our ultimate disappointment. It is hard to be philosophical but Sooki is a strong and healthy bitch and has recovered well. Many Thanks Px
