Gayle.
I do, I also have a black nylon slip lead I use but I keep going back to the snake chain, it just looks and feels nicer.
OSoSwift
I did on my Dobe but eventually went with a paracord one and prefered it.

jr_inoz
lots of sheltie people use snake chains as they don't get caught in the fur. Not sure what state you are in - Complete Canine in Adelaide always has them in stock. Maybe at your local dog show?

Bullbreedlover
Sandra777 might come on here or you could do a search and PM her. We are both kiwis but live in Aus. She has Staffords. She may be able to recommend something. I love the snake chain on my Bullmastiff. Use soft leads on the Bulldog at the moment though.
Blakbelgian
I hate snake chains!!!!!! When they get tangled its difficult to untangle them. BB
WreckitWhippet
would you recommend 1 on a staffy if so wheres the best place to buy 1 and do they come in different strengths? thanks I use one on one of my dogs. It's a silver one and it came from Prestige. I'd need to dog it out to find the measurements but it's quite a thick one.
Bjelkier
I use them on the Samoyeds and I'm very happy with them.

smacka
would you recommend 1 on a staffy if so wheres the best place to buy 1 and do they come in different strengths? thanks yes. Gold is the go. Used with a thin black lead they are attractive & unobtrusive. They don't inhibit the view of the neck & they don't get caught up in the fur. 10/10 & I have never have one tangle on me.
bjazld
wouldnt use anything else for showing. ive shown a few breeds and have always used snake chains. Pair them up with the nice braided bling leads (glamour leads) or the ones with the little beads on and it looks really nice and showy. anything nylon or fabric slip does not give good head control on breeds like staffys (jmo) unless your dog is really easy to show/behaved...and the normal link check chains look ugly in the ring unless its super fine. i like the proper staffy collars though too i find the silver is nicer than gold only because after a while the gold fades and you end up with half gold/half silver.. if you have any type of check chain at home that fits your dog, you could use that as a guide to length of snake chain.. blitz3
wheres the best place to buy 1 and what thickness would be best thanks, i've only seen thin ones for sale here that i think my dog would snap
SwaY
I thought most people used a collar and leas set like THIS when it comes to showing Staffords?
Jsk
You probably wint find a thick snake chain, I have never seen heavy duty ones, most are fine. Only you will be able to device the thickness required as you know your dog and it's behavior. If you think your dig would snap a snake chain or even a regular chain then your best bet is to show on a collar and lead.
toshman
Do they come in black? And if so, where can you get them (I'm thinking for a 7 - 8kg dog)?
Rottshowgirl
Most Australian show supplies people sell them, or I buy mine from www.3cdog.com. 3C have lots of different weights and also sell curb link show chains which still look nice but IMO kink less and release easier when using. IMO the curb link chains are better show chains on stronger breeds than the snake or hex link chains.
Alyosha
Pet Network sell them too: http://www.petnetwork.com.au/cgi-bin/shopping.pl?page=chains.htm&cart_id=879272
