The Wonders Of The Gentle Leader

Glad you have found something that works. :) Some dogs can just be a real challenge, and I imagine it can be very stressful battling to make headway with them. I know dogs that have been on no-pull harnesses or head collars all their life. I don't think there's anything wrong with long-term/indefinite management of LLW if that suits the owner. Plenty of people just buy the one tool to manage them and it does the job for the dog's whole life. That's cheaper than a trainer.

I totally agree with this.

A harness is not really all that much more expensive than a collar. I've seen easy walk harnesses for around $25, the same cost as a nice collar and tag.

If a tool actually works and is not too irritating to the dog (like a halti where the dogs spend the whole time trying to get them off so they can't pull!) then what is the problem with using it all the time?

Is a collar and a lead not a training tool? My dog walks nicely on a flat collar and lead but she is probably not highly trained enough to walk around everyhwere with no collar or lead.

actually one of my greyhounds walked very nicely in a haltie, never tried to rub it off, as he matured it was needed less and less, no extra training done by me, he just grew up

I see heaps of dogs being walked in halti's and easy-walk harnesses. They are calm and happy and their owners are too. I honestly don't see anything wrong with using them for the life of the dog if it means the dog and the owner get to go on pleasant walks each day. And I've never actually heard of any dog being injured from wearing a halti....but I've heard of plenty of dog owners getting sore shoulders and arms, or being pulled over by a dog pulling to hard on a lead.

I used a halti for Benson for about 6 months, he was a pain in the arm, neck and shoulder to walk until he got older and he was instantly good once I put it on.
