Steve
As a breeder I have found it stressful enough putting a baby puppy on a plane to someone I've not met. No way would I be sending your mum a pup Yep. Not a chance. + 2, but I would probably just give back all the money paid just to be rid of her. yep me too. huskies4life88
do you think the breeder is being irresponsible????? i wish my mum went with a partial refund, but she has decided that she loses less to go with the puppy purchase apparntly?? Id rather refund than have your mother take the pup - no amount of contracts would get me there. If she is a pain now she is going to be a major pain later and experience tells me to get the hell away as quick as the breeder can.

k9angel
i just hope it all works out......for the pup involved especially. Same. I just read in Ravens thread that you're Mum is taking the pup now because she's worried she won't get her deposit back. To me that is wrong and not the right reason to get a puppy. Far from it. I also cannot believe the breeder is even contemplating handing the puppy over to your Mum. Especially now. I am not a breeder, but if I were, there is no way I would be putting a puppy on a plane and sending them to someone who keeps changing their mind. ETA because I hit post too soon. Bilbo Baggins
Hmmm breeders my shoot me but my view would actually be the same as the mothers - the pups are still only 5 weeks old there is a possibility that a new home might be found before they were due to leave anyway. So effectively they are costing the breeder no more then they would have otherwise - if she manages to find a new home before they go at 8 weeks then she is at no greater loss then she would have been and therefore they should offer a full refund. That is unless the breeder has occurred additional expenses as a result - i.e. if they have registered papers in the name of your mother. Agree totally. Bilbo Baggins
Given its a cav the breeder would have no problem in selling to someone else. Well your Mum is probably being a pain, there is no way I would ask for a $250 non refundable deposit. I keep the pup in good faith until they are ready to go and I never put off people when I have "sold" them all I tell them to check back when the pups are 8 weeks, given that there are many slips between the cup and the lip. Guest donatella
I'm beginning to think there's more to this story than simply no longer wanting the puppy due to an additional $50 for interstate freight. If you really think about it, $50 to fly a dog interstate seems really cheap so I'm wondering if your mother did indeed change her mind about wanting a puppy. Could you have offered to loan her the extra $50 if she really couldn't currently afford it? I know that if I so desperately wanted a puppy enough to have placed a deposit and follow-up payments, I'd take it no matter what. I'm surprised she didn't opt for the breeder's second option of longer term payments myself and believe they've been more than fair to your mum. She's starting to sound quite immature if she can't accept that she was in the wrong -- however I totally relate to how you're feeling though. After all, it is *much* easier to blame someone else for your screw ups than to accept responsibility yourself. Hope your mum grows up quick and releases that in the scheme of things, 50 bucks isn't worth all your troubles. to be honest I don't think she should even be buying a pup if she can't afford $50 extra or even has to pay in installments. Dogs aren't cheap, if $50 seems like a big cost to someone then they're probably not in any state to take on the responsibilities of a dog. maybe you could talk her into rescuing a pound pup huskies :D
huskies4life88
my mum is a stubbourn SOB when she wants to be- which is all the time I tried talking to her about a number of different options but she has decided.....unfortunately I wish she would have just walked away from it with her 50% refund and left it at that...... meh.... a pound pup isnt an option for her....she wants a purebred cavalier puppy.....finding them in the pound is a really tough job

Sandra777
Personally I think it's extremely unlikely any ethical breeder would send a puppy to your mother given the information you have provided. Anyone who says they don't want the pup for such a trivial excuse would ring every alarm bell for anyone who cares in the slightest about their puppies. No one I consider ethical would send a pup to someone who had said they didn't want it - the refund is a totally different issue, the pup simply would not be going end of story. Agree with whoever it was said it wouldn't be all that hard to find another home for the pup in the time given.

Sandra777
but she is ANKC breeder So?? I don't know the breeder concerned. I don't know anything more than what you have said here. I don't have any idea why you think an ANKC breeder is the same as an ethical breeder after you've been lurking here for over a year.
huskies4life88
well even when i think i have it all worked out, there is always something more to learn......
