Can You Teach An Old Dog To Swim?

I took James to the coast yesterday for his second time (he was about 16 weeks the first time). The waves bothered him, and would probably be more troublesome for a short dog like Hugo. But James worked out through observation that they could be jumped over and it quickly got to the point where I could even prompt him to jump if he hadn't noticed a wave coming in. After that he was fine swimming, but he loves water so that wasn't the issue. It was just the salt and waves that he didn't like.

And remember to have fresh drinking water on hand.
