Fenugreek

HERE is a link to a thread on fenugreek.

personally, I'd only use it if a bitch is known to have lactation problems , or , after whelping a LARGE litter, she is not producing well. ( and producing well does not mean she staggers around looking like a dairy cow ;) )

I don't believe in encouraging a bitch to overproduce 'just in case'. It has its own problems :(

I got it from the local health food shop but only get the tea. So I just made that and added some to her meals. I didn't use it constantly - I gave it for the first few days until her milk came in and then again for a week when they were 3 or 4 weeks old as 9 greedy pups were a bit much for her supply at that stage and I didn't want to increase the solids too rapidly.

Sorry for thread highjack of sorts, but:

After my bitch had copious amounts of milk on birthing her singleton puppy, we now have some puppies in need of a surrogate (same age) coming today. And, in the last two days, Clover's milk supply has diminished significantly - as luck would have it!

If Clover does have difficulty feeding the new surrogate puppies, would adding Fenugreek to her meals help? Is there any other suggestions?
