wuffles
How does everyone teach the broad jump? I'll probably end up doing COP but will need to teach a version of the broad jump for rally anyway so I'd like to teach the Open exercise. My main issue at the moment is that she wants to walk straight over the boards unless I am running beside her, so I am thinking of going back to what we did for agility and putting a jump above the boards. Even when she jumps it in agility she clips the last board quite regularly
ness
Have you tried using a target out the front of the boards and yep a low jump then leave the jump uprights but remove the bar. I did an experimental session last year having an orange traffic cone out the front and sending the dog around it but Kenz has never thought to walk over the boards so thats probably not going to help you. ETA. As far as Rally is concerned I gather from the rules that the dog is just taking the jump as you move forward anyway so no problem with handler movement. **Super_Dogs**
I have a walker!! In agility I have to always ensure we have a straight on run up and I have to rev her up as we approach them. I like the jump idea, but I dont have a broad jump to practice at home.
