I used to walk religiously with my dogs everyday up until a couple of yrs ago. We started taking rescue dogs and I'd take them out when i could, but having no choice but to walk on a bitumen country road where the cars are flying past and the dog often not well versed in lead walking or social outings...it became very un-fun. The only off lead area in our town is a short narrow stretch of perhaps 8-10 metres wide and just a few hundred metres long, unfenced, between the river (Murray) and the main Rd. If I choose to walk on my own acreage I am pulling horehound, grass seeds & bindis off the poor buggers for the next couple of hrs!

BUT...now there are no rescues I am so in love with walking my girl DeeDee everyday again. I am so glad to just have her to concentrate on again now. We do walk on the bitumen rd for 5-6kms, but she is such a business like little terrier and just gets on with the walk...the way i like it! Plus I have to get fit for the new puppy coming in a few weeks. He/she WILL need exercise /social/training everyday! My other dog Mr.Shivers is a homebody and doesn't really 'go' for walks, and he is flea sized and plays ALL day in the yard!

I know it sounds crazy but moving to the country has made it quite difficult to walk the dogs & really enjoy it.
