Walking Your Dogs

Everyday I walk my dogs for an hour in the morning before work and then later at night also for an hour and just enjoy the experience.

The sheer pleasure they show is contagious.......lol

I wouldn't have the same amount of fun throughout my day, if I didn't do this.

Does anyone else feel the same?

Absolutely - I always rush home to take my dog out, and feel so so guilty if for some reason I can't. And usually call in a trusty back up to take her out. If I didn't take her out in the morning too, I'm sure I'd arrive at work half asleep.

Yes!

My dog walk time is just so precious to me, it is when I do my best thinking, it is when we (the boys and I)have our fun, we train and play lots of games. It is when we chat with other dog people if we are lucky enough to meet some.

At present in Tasmania with the boys in my motorhome and travelling for another 3-4 months - this time is so good, to enjoy my boys at such 'close quarters' and 24/7 for such a long period of time.

No  I love spending time with my dogs but I only take them for walks very rarely. I am so fed up of being rushed by strange dogs charging out of unsecure yards that I dont enjoy it at all. I cant even get out of my front gate without it being seriously dangerous for my dogs. I can however walk on my own and its fine, just cant take the dogs. Thankfully I live on small acreage so the dogs get plenty of exercise without having to leave home.

I love love love walking my dogs, we go mostly off lead and I get such enjoyment out of watching them run and play and explore the world. I must say I am a bit on edge coming up and during summer whilst out and about due to snakes ( there was another thread about this today.) but aside from that I would have to say walking my dogs is one of my favorite things in the world to do and it makes me and them very happy! :D

Yes! I love seeing them enjoy themselves! And I agree with Teela! It is a bizzare feeling to walk anywhere without at least one of them! I avoid it!

Walking them also helps me maintain my weight so its an essential for both the dogs and humans in this household!

If I ever go walking without my dogs (which is rare) I feel completely naked.

This.

I love my time walking with my dog. We use it to train, play, enjoy each others company and to let her explore the world. We have a park area with a creek across the road which we go walking along and she loves it. I stop from time to time to let her sniff, roll in the grass. The look of pure joy on her face just makes me smile :). I also love to find a bit of nature, sit with her and have a think/fuss.

Some more than others. My two youngest are OK to walk, though I would enjoy it more if my area weren't so ridiculously hilly :o . Cleo, though, is a pain in the butt to walk; she cannot walk a straight line, keeps walking in front of me, right under my feet, plus she has to stop every 30 metres to pee. Fortunately, she doesn't need much in the way of walks; she's nearly 11 so her walks are kept short. The other old gal doesn't get walked because she gets too out of breath (cancer).

I have a foster Military pup at the moment and he MUST be walked daily. One of our favourite places to walk is in the middle of town - I have never taken my own dogs for walks in town but I intend to start when our foster goes back. The advantage to walking in town is there's not usually any other dogs around (if there is they're on lead), there's always something to look at (window shopping ;) ) and it doesn't matter if it's raining or sunny - you're usually under cover :)

I agree with teela too - need to have a dog with me if I'm going for a walk :)

I used to love walking when it was just me and my old boy (RIP) it was our special time, he was well behaved & could be let off leash & came back eventually.. oh & I was fit then

Now I still walk my dogs (2) every day if I can but they are painful, my female is a shy girl who if something spooks her tries to lean on me while I'm trying to walk. And my male, whenever he thinks there's a cat around, even if there's not he will be a pain in the ass to walk, turning around, going backwards etc. But they do enjoy it & I need the exercise so we go :)

Not always....I have days when I'm just too knackered to want to walk them, or the prospect of a snails pace walk with my daughter & the dogs does my head in  On those days it's a labour of love!!!

It'seasier now we are on acreage though....i can just open the gate from the house yard and potter off with them still in my PJ's if I like

most of the time..

i hate offlead dogs who rush us and people who think they are above the law. I have a dog aggressive dog and i can never totally enjoy a walk. I always have to be on the lookout for off lead dogs

I love taking my dogs for walks and

seeing other peoples reactions to them and the dogs

love getting pats from strangers and socialising with other dogs.

For doggy excersize I take them to our local leash free park

where they can run and jump and smell all the smells.

Watch this

Cooper loves getting dirty with white flufy dogs, and they love him to.

And this

When I lived on a farm, the dogs never got fat because they were always doing something.

Him player with a small white dog is so cute. I am scared $hitless about letting bigger dogs near my little one but he plays with her so gently, what a gorgeous boy! this gives me hope i'll loosen up one day and let her near the big kids

Mosley spots cats from miles away and we have loads of wandering felines in our area....yay for me

My girl is also quite reserved but the thing that gets me is her peeing every 30 seconds.

Having said that, I do enjoy our time walking, they absolutely love ti and I feel bad if I miss a walk.
